So tasty you have to hear it with a spoon. Indie folk with a side of epic.

Biography

JJ Atrio is a Saskatoon-based band that has been performing since 2008. Friends Alexa, Josh and Jason had been playing music together for a couple years when they decided to start a band, write some songs and play gigs around Saskatoon.

Shows have been met with high acclaim. These three friends love to play music, and love to play together: this passion shines through in each show. Each member of JJ Atrio plays several instruments, allowing this trio to create different sounds according to each song’s style and mood. Josh is a gifted songwriter; he plays acoustic and electric guitars, drums, percussion and sings. Jason feels most at home on the bass, but he is also a great acoustic guitar player; his knowledge of sound technology is also an asset. Alexa is a songwriter and the lead singer of the band; she also plays piano, guitar, mandolin, and percussion.

2010 has been a big year for JJ Atrio. They spent some time in the studio in the summer recording their debut full-length album, One More Stone. To promote it, the team flew to Toronto for a short, but intense 6-show tour to Toronto, Hamilton, Peterborough and Ottawa.

Direct and tangential influences include Gillian Welch, Iron & Wine, Ben Harper, Blue Rodeo, Joni Mitchell, Björk, Chantal Kreviazuk, Sarah Harmer, and Amos Lee.
