“An Hour and a Half Away from Home” more than just an album, it’s a concept that involves emotions, creativity and a whole lot of talent from a self-taught musician whose lack of restriction towards music and self-expression has led him to make an astonishing musical creation.

Biography

It’s funny to see that most artists, when asked about their music, often respond to it with the popular: “My sound is absolutely unique, like nothing you’ve ever heard before.” If this was to be a truly “unique” sound, it wouldn’t have any guitars, vocals or even sounds previously done by anyone or anything else. Even though some times it seems like it, music doesn’t just happen, it always has a purpose and a reason, it takes desire and a lot of inspiration; whether it is a sound of nature or our favorite song that makes us wanna stand up and sing out loud, we’re always influenced by something or someone else.

JJ Gomez is well aware of this and instead of trying to separate himself from any other kind of music, so that his own can be “absolutely unique”, he takes advantage of the wide variety of musical styles that he is passionate for, and combines them in such way, adding up his very own special twist, that the result is a surprisingly addictive familiar sound, but at the same time so fresh and new, that captivates the audience and keeps them so interested that it’s extremely hard to just stop listening to it.

Monotony is just the right word not to be included in these lines as JJ Gomez’s music is the perfect reflection of an inconstant variable that is constantly revealing a new side and keeps reinventing itself with every note. It’s quite amazing to realize that tracks like “Let Me Go” and “Confused” so different in nature can actually be part of the same album, and even more than that, written and performed by the same person. Tracks like “Sick of This”, “Late” and “Still 19” stick to your head so firmly that you just have to listen to them again, and again, and again.

“An Hour and a Half Away from Home” more than just an album, it’s a concept that involves emotions, creativity and a whole lot of talent from a self-taught musician whose lack of restriction towards music and self-expression has led him to make an astonishing musical creation.

An these lines could go on for ever as there are infinite ways to describe music, but in the end it all comes down to a very simple thing: A guy who is doing what he loves the most and wants to have an effect on as many people as he can, and the only way to find out if you’re part of these people is to grab his album and listen carefully to what he’s got to say.

Lyrics

Let Me Go

Written By: JJ Gomez

We’ve been writing this story for so long
Drop dead my conscience into this state of mind
I’m seeing in your eyes the consequence of going to bed at 4am every single night
And I swear that this feeling’s just another rush of blood to my face
And don’t wake me up just to say this same old story again
Cuz’ I’ve already been there so many times

Gotta say that today there’s no waiting for tomorrow let me go or make me stay
And I can tell that today I’m the reason for all the stupid letters and the stupid words that you never said

Tired of waiting for this so long
I’m swallowing your intentions just to keep this feeling strong
In vain once again you blow me off like you just don’t care
You say (again it’ll work someday)
This time we’re going (our separate ways)
And I swear that this feeling’s just another rush of blood to my pants
And just don’t try to sell me your biggest lie just come clean tell me the truth
Cuz’ I’ve already been there so many times before

That you never said….
Just try to think a better way to blow me off again

And I and I know I might be just another statue in your room
And now I can honestly say you’ll never be more than a line in this f***ing stupid song

Sick of This

Written By: JJ Gomez

I can’t believe that I still do all the things that I do
I never wanted myself to end up feeling downcast
I’m sick and tired of the same
Some times I think it’s just you
I’m suffocated but I can’t do anything about it

Wake up! Cuz’ all the things I always dream about are being traded
For all the things I never thought I’d have to do
Never thought I’d have to stay every single morning at the very same place
If you think I’m gonna be like this you must be dreaming

Some times I can’t control these things that go through my head
And now the door is closed and nothing ever changes

I’m sick of all the things that they say
I’m sick of all the things that I do
I never wanted to feel my life is being wasted
Some times I wish I could escape this place feels like a prison
I’m suffocated but I can’t do anything about it

And I don’t really care about all the things that people tell me
That I should forget my dreams and get back in line
I don’t wanna waste my life away cuz’ at the end it’s all the same
And now I know I’m better on my own

And now I can’t control, these things that go through my head
And now the door is closed and nothing ever changes

Late

Written By: JJ Gomez

I’m sitting here in front of you
With all these thoughts inside my head
And I’m trying not to lose my mind for you
I’m feeling scared and even though I know you are next to me
I feel the whole world is now between us

But I seem to forget that you can’t be mine

Let me tell you that I think about you everyday
That I’d kiss you if I only could but your heart is somewhere else
And I’m already late now you’re gone for ever
Now you’re gone for ever and I will never get to be with you

As I’m writing down these lines
You’re probably in other arms
You probably don’t even know that I exist
And I keep wondering what this is
All the times you looked at me
Does it mean anything to you?

And I try to let it go
But everyday I want you more
I wish you felt the way I do
And every time you look at my eyes
Nothing else matters anymore
