Bio

It’s funny to see that most artists, when asked about their music, often respond to it with the popular: “My sound is absolutely unique, like nothing you’ve ever heard before.” If this was to be a truly “unique” sound, it wouldn’t have any guitars, vocals or even sounds previously done by anyone or anything else. Even though some times it seems like it, music doesn’t just happen, it always has a purpose and a reason, it takes desire and a lot of inspiration; whether it is a sound of nature or our favorite song that makes us wanna stand up and sing out loud, we’re always influenced by something or someone else.

JJ Gomez is well aware of this and instead of trying to separate himself from any other kind of music, so that his own can be “absolutely unique”, he takes advantage of the wide variety of musical styles that he is passionate for, and combines them in such way, adding up his very own special twist, that the result is a surprisingly addictive familiar sound, but at the same time so fresh and new, that captivates the audience and keeps them so interested that it’s extremely hard to just stop listening to it.

Monotony is just the right word not to be included in these lines as JJ Gomez’s music is the perfect reflection of an inconstant variable that is constantly revealing a new side and keeps reinventing itself with every note. It’s quite amazing to realize that tracks like “Let Me Go” and “Confused” so different in nature can actually be part of the same album, and even more than that, written and performed by the same person. Tracks like “Sick of This”, “Late” and “Still 19” stick to your head so firmly that you just have to listen to them again, and again, and again.

“An Hour and a Half Away from Home” more than just an album, it’s a concept that involves emotions, creativity and a whole lot of talent from a self-taught musician whose lack of restriction towards music and self-expression has led him to make an astonishing musical creation.

An these lines could go on for ever as there are infinite ways to describe music, but in the end it all comes down to a very simple thing: A guy who is doing what he loves the most and wants to have an effect on as many people as he can, and the only way to find out if you’re part of these people is to grab his album and listen carefully to what he’s got to say.
