Biography

SumVoices is an ongoing collaborative musical adventure of JL and Friends.
The below singers and players contribute their individual talents to assorted
projects from time to time.
We "voices" are scattered throughout the United States (NJ, IN, CT, CA, NY, KS).

Ultimately, we mix all of our parts together here to create something we call "SumVoices". It's an intriguing, not-so-fast-moving, process...participating in the evolution of a song.
Thank you for listening in. I think you will find my associates to be most talented. I am privileged to make music with them. Please visit us here @ SumVoices.com from time to time for further info on our other endearing endeavors.
We usually have "sumthing" in the works !

Be well...JL

Autumn Drums Overture (Prelude to a Dream, Comfortably Wet...Fortuna Sostenuto...Feel)

Written By: JL Hannah, Dave Robinson, Gary Georgett, Jerry Hannah, Mari Levine, Jim Richards, L Couturas

Autumn Drums Overture
-Prelude To A Dream
-Comfortably Wet
-Fortuna Sostenuto
-Feel

by JL Hannah, D. robinson, G. Georgett, J. Hannah, M. Levine, J Richards, L Couturas copyright 2004 BMI

don't know nothin' 'bout nothin'
don't know nothin'at all
'cept all this thinkin', this rushin'
around
it ain't goin' nowhere at all

first she might mention 'bout goin'to the country
then she might mention 'bout chasin' what's been
but autumn's contention about wastin' and sinnin'...
ya don't need redemption, just trust in her wind
she shadows all that's been

Dischorus

Written By: JL Hannah copyright 2005 BMI

My name is Joe Hannah and I've no title to note
Thanx for your insight, your lecture, it's scope
I've reflected a while on my thoughts of that day
Confronted my anger
I've tried to widen my sights

Clearly I blew it
I misread the bill
The first time I've done that
The last time I ever will

Do the others lie silent and just nod their head ?
Do the others lie silent, the walkin' half dead
Let the others lie silent and feed what they're fed
Let the others lie silent,
but I, no no I, I won't be led

Dischorus it's out there, yeah I feel the air
Dischorus has found us, no hymn will repair
Dischorus surrounds us, Bill Hicks are ya there ?
Dischorus resounds us and I, oh no I...

repeat Chorus

Ole Friend

Written By: Dave Robinson/JL Hannah c 2005 BMI

Ole Friend

words & music by Dave Robinson & JL Hannah copyright BMI 2005

it might be nothin',
just the wind
though i feel somethin',
close at hand

but it's not new,
too familiar
akin
is that you there in the shadows, my ole friend ?

when i'm alone here,
among the strings
and dusk is fallin',
her darkness creeps

sometimes i feel the stirin',
begin
is that you there in the shadows, my ole friend ?
is that you or my reflection, i send ?
is that you there in the shadows, my ole friend ?

Passing Time

Written By: JL Hannah c 2005 BMI

Passing Time

words & music by JL Hannah copyright 2005 BMI

Verse
we're searching for a dream left behind
reaching for a hint toward forever
looking for that seam, that one line
hopin' for a door to wide open...wide open wide

maria has a friend, but she doesn't know it
her strings have been asleep for some time
one brush they're both awakened and flowin'
hidden in each note there's a rhyme
she can feel the rhymes
she can feel them riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiise
on a breeze they'll fly
so don't let them go, oh no no no no...maria follow

Chorus (slow)
so if ya feel a breeze, take the time
to see it further clear and try to know it
cause if ya don't, it won't ease your mind
then there ya go again
passin' time
and it 'al pass ya by
it 'al pass ya right by

Verse
ah the kids' god-sent don't ya know it
i luv to watch her smile release their frowns
in different times ya know i must have known her
in a different life, somewhere someway somehow
we were somehow bound
cut born from the same grooooooouuuund....ah ah yeah
though it's somehow so
there's no way to know
so i'll just follow

Chorus-(slow)repeat

Bridge-instrumental

Verse
thales says it's all there in the water
livin' in the dew lives the life
wild fields of blue and green, yet there's still an order
the breathin' in the grape breeds the wine
and you can breed fine wine
if you just give it your care tiiiiiiiiiiime...ah ah yeah
so don't let it go, oh no no no no
ya gotta follow

Chorus-in shifted key (not so slow)
it ál pass ya right by right by right by right by (added going out)

Dear

Written By: JL Hannah c 2006 BMI

DEAR

words & music by JL Hannah copyright 2006 bmi

yes i know dear
been some long years
lonely long years, half alone

it's hard to know dear
we seldom go here
it's hard to know his heart of stone
so hard to know what's... hardly shown

CHORUS
but there are meadows that whisper songs daer
so in those meadows, i must roam
i listen long there, to patient songs there
and one by one thry lead me home

VERSE
don't shed a blue tear
or heed a new fear
don't doubt the luv of this wanderin' soul
cause when i'm gone dear, i'll leave this song here
and then my soul sings on and on

and when those meadows, whisper songs dear
in those meadows,
know i roam
listen long dear,
be patient strong here, and then you'll know i've reached my home
yes, then you'll know i be at home

Blessed Pour

Written By: JL Hannah copyright 2008 BMI

Let's just say...

She was born of the vineyard there,
beside that gull colored shore.

One day they squeezed forth her essence yeah,
into this wood vat they poured.

Since then nuthin' could be finer no,
not since then, nor before.

No, no, nuthin' could be finer no,
not since then, nor before.

'Cause she's now this sweet wine my soul so adores.

She comes from a fine vine yeah.

Yes, she's now this sweet wine my tongues so adores, she's my...
my most blessed pour.

She's a blessed pour.

Where her grapes greet the mornin' there, they say ya just gotta see the soil (there)

Where her grapes greet the mornin' air, I'm gonna go there & breathe in her soil

though i know it's a long way, more than miles from here, i feel like i'm way past ready to go

and i ain't willin' to race thru my last yrs, so i say...why not ?

fill the tank, n' check the oil

please check the oil

repeat CHORUS

Rhythm N' Soul

Written By: Joseph M Lobosco, copyright 2010 BMI

Rhythm N' Soul

words and music by Joseph Michael Lobosco copyright 2010 BMI

intro

Verse

Hey there Mister
You wanna know what I know
Well I found this brand new religion
Though it may be mighty old
No bible dogma to confound it
No fire, No brimstone
See I just feel it in my fingers
It's really reelin' in my bones
I feel that feelin in the tones
Feels real real in my bones

Feels like...
It just goes on and on !

V

So whatcha say there Whistlers
Lets cut it loose n' let it go
If you gotta a little bit of Rhythm there
I got a whole lot of soul
I got a whole lot of soul
Let's mix some rhythm with soul, here we go...

Horn section Chorus

BRIDGE

Set free your soul
Loosin' a little control
It's just gonna take a finger roll to feel that rhythm feed your soul
c'mon c'mon set free your soul
put some rock in your roll

So now we pay no worry 'bout the weather...no no no
don't make no difference at all
'cause the rain and sun they feed you equally, we grow
equally, we know
INSTINCTUALLY you know rhythm needs soul
equally, ya know rhythm needs soul
equally, ya know rhythm needs soulllll !

OUTTRO
ah, you gotta feel the soul
let the rhythm take control
c'mon c'mon
let the rhythm feed your soul
