"New Release by Christian Hip-Hop Artist strikes a chord with its Theology"

With engaging hooks and surprisingly theological lyrics, J.May's debut EP Conflict is a breath of fresh air in the typically shallow waters of the Christian rap genre. This is more than your usual "Jesus is my Homeboy" fare. From describing the spiritual battle of the Christian life with "I Will Wrestle" and the title track "Conflict" to remembering the suffering of Christ in the "The Cup", Conflict is filled with New Testament language and concepts describing an in-your-face Christianity reminiscent of Lecrae. J.May's background in Kansas City and the International House of Prayer resound in choruses like "Set Me Ablaze", and this album could well be personified as IHOP's hip-hop, but with the authenticity of someone who knows well their audience. J.May's urban roots in Columbus, Ohio, and performing and choreographing hip-hop routines for groups like IHOP-KC and Gospel artist Eddie James gives him a credibility of more than just some synthesized beats. - International House of Prayer

Bio

J.May is a solo rap artist with a desire to live a lifestyle of wholehearted pursuit for Jesus. He is a seeker of the ways of God, longing to learn the truth of the Word and rightly articulate what God has disclosed. J.May holds to the truth that Jesus is the Christ among a culture that questions and denies Jesus’ divinity, and he is set for the defense of the gospel. He carries a burning desire to see an awakening in his generation and to be a living intercessor who delivers God’s heart to His people.

He was born in Martinsburg, WV, and later moved to Columbus, OH, where he attended World Harvest Bible College. From there he moved to Alabama with Eddie James Ministries (EJM) and headed up the dance team eXcaliber, where he stayed for 4 years. He currently lives in Kansas City, MO, gleaning from the teachings at the International House of Prayer (IHOP), and travels with EJM to churches and conferences around the nation. He is also privileged to be involved with Karen Wheaton and the Ramp and minister with their dance team, Chosen.
