Hailing from Mankato, MN, Jme hits StarPolish with a fresh, original sound that connects a hip-hop sound with Original Gangsta lyrics. It’s obvious that he spent a lot of time compiling all these beats to create his interesting sound, and he delivers his lyrics with a nice speed and keeps them fresh. The sound reminds me of old-school YBT (Young Black Teenagers), but the hip-hop feel of the music adds a completely different flavor. The confidence that he displays in his music bodes well for his success. "Movin' On" sounds like a well-thought-out plan with a nice catchy rhythm and lyrics that keep you listening. Bio
Jme, born Jamie Dykema, was raised in Orange County California, where he discovered his love for music. His earliest influences were Too Short, Tupac, Paperboy, EPMD, N.W.A, Ice Cube, The Fu-Schnickens & DJ Quick. He recorded his first song at the age of nine, started recording CDs and selling them to classmates at school. He then met up with Minneapolis-based producer Andy Sybilrud, who produced a few higher quality tracks. These tracks ended up being heard by Ben Obi, another Minneapolis-based producer who is producing Jme's debut album.
