Biography

JNAN (pronounced Jay–Non) is a musical prodigy whose roots are in every area of music from rock, jazz, and blues to country. As a legacy in the business his family tree speaks of experience and creativity. His music reflects the diversity, which appeals to all people and tastes. He is truly a musical everyman, and in his own words “striving to become a legend not a rapper”, and putting real heart back into Hip Hop.

JNAN is the Clear Channel/WGCI 2004 Chicago Idol. His voice has been featured in commercials for several regional businesses and national corporations including Fox Television, KFC, EZ Link Prepaid Wireless, Southside Tattoo, and Collections Clothing to name a few.

JNAN’s appearances include performances for House of Blues, Hard Rock Café, NAACP, Black College Expo, WGCI Music Seminars, Chicago Theater, and many more. He has opened for Shawnna of DTP, Twista, Chopper (Bad Boy South), The Brat, Do or Die, Crucial Conflict, Ericka Badu, Nina Skyy & Cash Money.

JNAN was a featured Budweiser True Music Artist in the October/November 2005 issue of Complex magazine. He is also a featured artist in several regional and online publications such as Good Talent and Xper1ence.com. With the release of RapperMan on U.S. Cellular’s new line of smart phones in October 2007 JNan is poised to receive national attention.

He has worked with the best of the Chicago music industry, gaining respect, love, and support, and producing highly marketable and entertaining music at a very young age. His demeanor is one of a seasoned and wise veteran of the game. JNAN has recently completed singles with No ID, Malik Yusef, and AK of Do Or Die, Pheave (Feva), Really Doe, Johnny P. and Rhymefest and is presently in the studio completing two singles produced and featuring Kanye West anticipated to be released 2007/2008.

Last year with the release of the first in the “Almost Famous” mixtape series, JNan exploded on the Chicago music scene. With the unexpected response to songs like “It’s My Life” feat Malik Yusef, “ Drink in my Cup” with Yung Texxus, and the surprise single “Chalup’in” feat AK of Do or Die and P.Coakley, Chicago was buzzing for the year and is anticipating the release of this year’s tape “Almost Famous – Hisstory in the Making”. With singles like “When it Hits Home”, “VIP”, “Hello”, Pay Me, and “Let Me Breathe” you get a sense of the greatness to come. Almost Famous “Hisstory In The Making” promises to be bigger and better than the last CD, and unlike other mix tapes this one will be all original material, more of an album than a mix tape. Early reviews on the street show it to be a classic in the making.

JNAN possesses originality unseen in the industry to date. Here’s what major industry artists are saying about JNAN…
“Man! Man! All I can say is Southside, Southside. We’re gonna start this party off right! JNAN is the total package.” -Kanye West.
“From the moment he stepped on stage I just wanted to watch him. Then it was almost like I could’ve closed my eyes because the visual of everything that JNAN was saying was so clear. His presence is up there. He’s just got it, he’s got It.” –Common.
“He’s like the Black Rocky. He’s got the eye of the tiger…all the elements of a star!”– NoID.

Be Me

Written By: JNan and Corey Williams

Chorus
What’s this thing called life I’m living
Only pain and sorrow it keeps on giving
It just seems the sun don’t shine for me
Life just seems so cloudy
How can I be me?
Me for a minute
I just wanna be me for a minute
Light up an incense and breathe for a minute
All of my niggaz come with me for a minute
Just vibe

Verse 1
In a state where I ain’t gotta worry about my college tuition
And I ain’t worry about what’s in my kitchen
Or how I’m gonna survive off about what my parents is lending
One day I hope to be in linen
Talking to my kid about some old school pimping
You know some old school run ins
And how his grandpappy gave some old school whippings
Things ain’t the same no more
When I look to the future the present unfolds
It’s like Christmans
You know the presents is close
But you can’t unrap them shits
Until the day hits
So I’m gone take this time to vibe with my niggaz
Sit in a room and just rise with my niggaz
Laid back like a ’83 eight track
Trying to watch a ’84 movie that we can’t track
Let the aroma cease the silence
Something like Pac and Biggie before the violence
Close your eyes with me for a minute
Leave your worries and adjust for a minute
Just vibe

Just vibe

Verse 2
In a place where there’s no war and there’s no drafting
So none of this bullshit would have to happen
And life would only be as hard as you made it
Where you could put kool-aid in the fridge and not expect anybody else to drink it
This is a beautiful lifestyle homie
You should probably try it before you judge down on me
Cause truth is I’m not in a Maybeck
But I’m still laid back in something comfortable
This rap thing is all that I know
Why won’t theses A & R’s let the kid get comfortable
Shorties won’t let the kid get comfortable
They try to have my kid so life gets comfortable
Damn, so who gone comfort dude
Just a incense and a couple of comforts dude
It seems the sun don’t shine no more
Until I get to vibing while the music’s going
Yep, no more verses homie
I just wanna vibe while the music’s going
Just vibe

Just vibe

Oompaa Loompaa

Written By: JNan and Carl Buckner Jr.

Intro:
Last year they were turning me take a good look at my factory now

I don’t think that you are seeing me
Your artist isn’t hot as me
You think that it is very sweet
Until I show up on these streets

Chorus:
Oompaa loompaa dopity do
I have another puzzle for you (We don’t stop we get down)
Oompaa loompaa dopity dee
If you are smart you’ll listen to me (I show you how we get down)
What do you do if your dip is with me
Riding around in my passenger seat
What does it mean if she’s looking at me?

Verse 1:
You’re not doing your job
And I work too damn hard
The lack tragic
Holes they lack cabbage
Flow we got that
Hot ta def we back at it
The dentist dude is the same as the jeweler dude
Yeah them white rims but you can call them tennis shoes
We hopping up in the coupe
Sedans we get them too
Your man to get in too
If he ever confronted dude
Cause standing in front of dude
Is like many more dudes
So that nine you got
Doesn’t have any more use
My team hurdles
Attracting nothing but girdles
We ride around in circles
The same speed as turtles
Not picking up that cell phone you bought her shame on you
We get the same perks and all we did was spread that juice
Put that smoke in the air nigga spead that too
What you doing mommy Pass that it ain’t for you
We got that diddy bop
Shit to make ditty stop
Took a golden rapper to bring it back to willie wonka

Chorus:
Oompaa loompaa dopity do
I have another puzzle for you (We don’t stop we get down)
Oompaa loompaa dopity dee
If you are smart you’ll listen to me (I show you how we get down)
What do you do if your dip is with me
Riding around in my passenger seat
What does it mean if she’s looking at me?

Verse 2:
Your girl witnessed the star
Now she’s rolling with the squad
She like my style now she wanna give her man up
On lock down, but I got the key to her handcuffs
Tired of the lonely nights
Ran game, put her in the range
But I think the chain made her see the light
I introduced her to a new era of pimping
Took her through the hood but I wasn’t finished with the mission
Let me show something new to you
See I’m not spending a thing
Selling a dream is about all I’m gonna do to you
I stay on my grind, I’m still on my toes
Hot ta def is the squad and we taking over the globe
You get out of line, disrespecting who ever I roll with
I’m coming to where you live and we doing you wrong
I came up now these haters can’t believe it
And they were anxious to see my downfall
But now I’m finally eating
Let it be known I’m here and it ain’t no leaving
Until I get it all or somebody stop me from breathing
It like….

Chorus:
Oompaa loompaa dopity do
I have another puzzle for you (We don’t stop we get down)
Oompaa loompaa dopity dee
If you are smart you’ll listen to me (I show you how we get down)
What do you do if your dip is with me
Riding around in my passenger seat
What does it mean if she’s looking at me?

Verse 3:
I guess it is how it is
Cause we get it how we live
Hot ta def homie don’t deny it we the shit
I’m potty trained, you dudes are lying in your shit
Stop ma you know your boy ain’t falling for them tricks, yeah
Rapping with them fruity niggaz who be following them tricks
I’m a seven dude riding in a seven too
Lied back like I’m in a cadillac from ‘82
What more can I say, I made it through
Better get your chick out of the way before she makes it too
Niggaz be hating too. I swear they be hating dude
Staring at my windows Microsoft bill gating dude
Now I got a factory, I’m simply inviting you
To buck with the best of the best
We have you riding to scenes from ‘82
We’re flipping the language dude
With a modern language dude
Who’s filling a gang of shoes
Heem so wonka, copping toys from tonka
So when my times up, my seeds can squad up like…..

Chorus:
Oompaa loompaa dopity do
I have another puzzle for you (We don’t stop we get down)
Oompaa loompaa dopity dee
If you are smart you’ll listen to me (I show you how we get down)
What do you do if your dip is with me
Riding around in my passenger seat
What does it mean if she’s looking at me?

You better pay off your drop
Cause we got that shit locked

RapperMan

Written By: JNan

Chorus
I woke up with my face to the sky
Thinking what I wanna do with my life
I wanna be a rapper man
And everyday I know I’m born for this life you know why
Because soon as I finish rapping man
It’s like I wanna rap again
I woke up with my face to the sky
Thinking what I wanna do with my life
I wanna be a rapper man
And everyday I know I’m born for this life you know why
Because soon as I finish rapping man
It’s like I wanna rap again
You wanna rap again well rap it then

Verse 1
Damn I'm back again
The streets respected him ever since he held a pen
Young JNAN writing rhymes with crayons
Spit it for the kids but the teachers had to pay him
Yeah they hated him same niggaz that graded him
And now I'm on its the same niggaz that's praising him
Bragging to their friends like I practically raiseded him
Hot pack cold pack I practically catered him
I aint tripping though and that's why I go back to the hood once a week
Just to trick off though
I use to tell them I was born to be a rapperman
They said no you'll be at burger king wrapping things
Look at me now a few years later man
Few pair of gators man
And I aint even seen a gram
He gone make it to the top
Gone and tell them grams
They aint believe us cause we was eating golden grams
Now I’m a rapperman
What you say a rapperman
Don't be jealous you can be a rappers fan
Hot ta def we’re a story that’ll never end
And I'm sabastian every time I wake up man

Chorus
I woke up with my face to the sky
Thinking what I wanna do with my life
I wanna be a rapper man
And everyday I know I’m born for this life you know why
Because soon as I finish rapping man
It’s like I wanna rap again
I , I, I wanna be a rapperman
I wanna be a rapperman
Was born to be a rapperman
I was born to be a rapperman
Tell mama I’m a rapper man
Because soon as I finish rapping man
It’s like I wanna rap again
I , I, I wanna be a rapperman
I wanna be a rapperman
Was born to be a rapperman
I was born to be a rapperman
Tell mama I’m a rapper man
Because soon as I finish rapping man
It’s like I wanna rap again
You wanna rap again well rap it then

Verse 2
And I'm at it again sorry mom if I fail it won't happen again
Pops told me son never be an average man
Follow your dreams and live to be a rapper man
Rapperman? Rapperman
So i went to bag it man did a couple talent shows
But I couldn't pack them in
Now look at me everywhere I'm packing in
Tour buses suitcases steadily unpacking them
Met a couple celebrities now I'm considered one
Funny how my job is the same thing I do for fun
My kid wanna be a president I'll tell him run
Burnetts is nothing but heart homie we don't run
Yep it feels good to be a rapper man
I swear the mummy of the hood tried to rap me in
Back hand slap a man pimp me like an undergrad
But now I'm back and I'm living to be a rapperman

Chorus
I woke up with my face to the sky
Thinking what I wanna do with my life
I wanna be a rapper man
And everyday I know I’m born for this life you know why
Because soon as I finish rapping man
It’s like I wanna rap again
I , I, I wanna be a rapperman
I wanna be a rapperman
Was born to be a rapperman
I was born to be a rapperman
Tell mama I’m a rapper man
Because soon as I finish rapping man
It’s like I wanna rap again
I , I, I wanna be a rapperman
I wanna be a rapperman
Was born to be a rapperman
I was born to be a rapperman
Tell mama I’m a rapper man
Because soon as I finish rapping man
It’s like I wanna rap again
You wanna rap again well rap it then
