"Deep Sound - January 2006"

Of note, another talent on this night was the never-ending percussionistic bangin’ rhythms of Joakin Eskasan accompanying Craig Mitchell during his DJ set. The tireless smiling madman, who is also a producer (with a few tracks on Beatport.com), knows how to keep the beat better than anyone this side of the Ozark Mountains, never missing a beat while never letting up. Don’t be surprised to hear this talent bang to the beat at an MTL party near you! - DeepJ Max

Bio

As a percussionist and producer, Joakin Eskasan has become a true craftsman of the electronic dance music scene. Joakin successfully mixes his live percussive grooves with house, techno and tribal dance music, making him a favorite among club goers. Born in El Paso, TX Joakin grew up in Juarez, Mexico where he started playing drums for large audiences at the age of 14. In an ongoing quest to expand his knowledge and experience, Joakin moved to Boston to attend Berklee College of Music.

Through the training he received at Berklee, Joakin has been able to expand his technical repertoire, further enhancing his inherent passion and mastery for the beats he brings to dance floors throughout. These skills, coupled with his endless energy, have given Joakin the opportunity to make people dance with DJ's such as Chus & Ceballos, Craig Mitchell, D:Fuse, D-Formation, Deep Boston, Eli Wilkie, Elliot DeHoyos, Jay Prouty, Joe Mama, Juan E, Lance Jordan, Oscar De Rivera, Rick Naples, Soul Clap, Steve Porter and That Kid Chris in venues across the United States, including Rise and Underbar (Boston) , Stereo & Love (New York) as well as Nocturnal and Cafeteria at the Winter Music Conference(s) 06-07 (Miami).

In addition to being a nightlife virtuoso, Joakin further supports the dance music movement by hosting "Party People!", a podcast radio show that interviews an eclectic mix of dance music DJs. While "Party People!" gives DJs the opportunity to showcase their music, it also provides listeners with the opportunity to further capture the spirit of the individuals who are being interviewed.

As soon as Joakin stands behind his percussion set, he is truly in his element; for it is the smiling faces and pounding feet of his fellow movers, groovers and shakers that fuels him to tirelessly play through the night. Ultimately, Joakin strives to make people dance, endlessly enjoy music, and celebrate life in the same way he does. Joakin Eskasan is forever, making people dance!
