Rogério Botter Maio

Acoustic and electric bass player, composer, arranger and producer
Born on September 9th , 1965 and raised in São Paulo, Brazil, Rogerio has lived between '87 and '99 in Europe and the United States performing in several music styles, always enriching them with the strength and richness of his homeland music traditions. From ‘87 through ‘89 studied in Austria at the Hochschule für Musik in Graz in both jazz and classical programs. Co-founder of JazzViaBrasil Group which his brother Rodrigo still leads in Zurich. In ‘89, he lived one year in Rome, Italy, where besides actively performing (with with Ray Mantilla, Jay Clayton among others), he played the role of a musician in the movie "God Father III". During his one year stay in Paris in ‘90 where he played with Thierry Péala Trio, Ricardo Villas Group among others, he was awarded a scholarship for the Berklee College of Music moving to Boston in ‘91 to study for one year. In New York City from ’92 through ‘97 worked with Paquito d'Rivera, Lionel Hampton, Cláudio Roditi, Manfredo Fest, Leny Andrade, Hendrik Meurkens among others. His main recordings were with Gerry Mulligan & Jane Duboc (CD Paraiso‘93), Dom Salvador Trio (CD Transition ’98), Hendrik Meurkens (Cds October Colors and Poema Brasileiro), Manfredo Fest (CD Fascinating Rhythm) and Naná Vasconcelos (CD Fragments), Weber Iago (CD Children of the Wind), Jovino Santos Neto (CD Roda Carioca) and Nelson Ayres (CD Perto do Coração), Elisabet Raspall (CD Quatro and upcoming cd just recorded). As a composer, arranger and producer, released in ‘96 his first CD "CRESCENDO" independently in USA. Back in Brazil in 1998, released his second CD “APRENDIZ (2000), played with the Dom Salvador, Hermeto Pascoal, Danilo Caymmi, Ná Ozzetti, Jovino Santos Neto, Jane Duboc, Duofel Soundcape Big Band, Orquestra Popular de Câmara to name just a few. He has been steady member of the Nelson Ayres Trio for 6 years. Since ‘94 is often in Europe with his own Brazilian Jazz group and other musical projects. In 2004 he also played with his group in Asia at the Indonesia Open Jazz Festival. His third CD “PRAZER DA ESPERA� has been independently released in April 2006. From 2005 through 2008 he has lived in Europe. period in which toured with the singer Rosalia de Souza (Japan, Poland, Italy) and was the bass player and arranger of the Valentina Piccioni 4tet (tribute to the composer Piero Piccioni). In São Paulo, where resides, Rogério leads 3 different groups. With the RBM BraSilian World 4tet has performed in jazz festivals in Indonesia, Brasil, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Spain, France, Portugal and Slovenia. He is presently mixing the cd with his CERNE 5tet based in Barcelona and arranging for larger ensembles from Brazil and others emsembles from Europe.Was invited to teach at the California Brazil Camp in 2009. In March / April 2010 toured with his trio project and presenting his Brazilian Music workshop in Argentina besides co-leading the project Jobim/Vinicius de Moraes with the singer Ana Paula da Silva. Now a days is presenting his brand new CD TUDO POR UM OCASO (www.myspace.com/cerne5tet) with his CERNE 5tet.

Ana Paula da Silva
Ana was born in Joinville / SC, Brazil. Her musicality was taking shape a child while her father taught her some of the great works of Brazilian composers. With her self-taught training, thirteen years ago the singer Ana Paula has developed her musical career, evolving naturally from the guitarist and singer songwriter. With strong characteristics of a great performer and her total identity, Ana Paula da Silva met great musicians, as Robertinho Silva, Arnou De Melo, Beto Lopes with Brazilian new talent for the recording, between 2004 and 2005, of her first solo album, " Canto Negro. " With this project, presented at the Festival de Jazz de Montreux, Teatro Juarez Machado, Teatro Municipal de Itajaí, Sesc Prainha Tour and held a tour in Austria. Since 2004, between Brazil and Europe, Ana Paula held, with the composer, arranger and guitarist Alegre Corrêa, the disc and tour of the Project Because of Samba (Por causa do Samba). In her thirteen year career, Ana Paula has shared concerts with big names such as Elza Soares, Tavinho Moura, Toninho Horta, Leny Andrade, Lô Borges, among others. She has also worked with musicians recognized in Brazil and Europe, as Robertito Silva, Karl Hodina, Jeff Gardner, Wolfgang Muthspiel and in 2006 took a tour of five weeks with the worthy musician Joe Zawinul, with Joe Zawinul Syndicate.
