"Steve Morse"

"The name the Jody Grind is mysterious, but underneath it all is a passionate group fronted by gifted singer Sara Colb. She has absorbed the grit of Janis Joplin and the worldliness of Lucinda Williams, packing it into a dynamic swirl that grabs the listener and doesn't let go. She has a brassy, high-tension-wire voice that sounds modern and timeless. Never mind what the Jody Grind means. Just enjoy it."
- "Morse on Music" WBOS 92.9FM Boston, Boston Globe Correspondent

"Excerpt from Northeast In Tune"

"Losing Time reveals an eclectic wave of hook-packed sounds and soul touching lyrics...The album is powerful and leaves no holes for discretion. Each track provides a peek at real human emotion." - Northeast In Tune

Losing Time (10 song cd). The debut album from The Jody Grind, produced by Eric Kilburn of Wellspring Studios

The critically acclaimed album includes nine original compositions and a Jody Grind rendition of The Velvet Undergrounds What Goes On. Steeped in traditional rock and blues roots, the band produces a unique and intriguing sound that is all their own. Impressive vocals and melody hooks evoke strong emotions and deliver authentic passionate rock true to those roots. The CD combines elements of rock, blues, soul, funk, and country all into an explosive blend of stirring, heartfelt, and catchy music with a wide-ranging fan appeal.

Blending elements of rock, blues, and funk, The Jody Grind is one of the most exciting original bands emerging out of the Boston/New England music scene. Fronted by popular singer, Sara Colb, the band combines a powerfully soulful voice with a talented and experienced group of songwriting musicians to deliver a stunning musical experience with a unique Jody Grind sound all its own!

Deeply rooted in blues and traditional rock, The Jody Grind provides accessible, yet impressive melodies, hooks, and grooves with authentic songwriting fueled by intensely personal experiences and poetic sensibility. Influenced by both the great melodic and lyrical bands/songwriters of the past, the groups material sets them a cut above the pre-packaged fluff and predictability of modern rock radio.
All the elements come together on The Jody Grinds critically acclaimed debut CD, Losing Time, and during live performances that compel toes to tap, feet to dance, and crowds to sing along and keep coming back for more!

It was back in 2002, at a weekly blues jam in Boston, when a young, soulful singer named Sara Colb began wowing crowds with her uniquely powerful voice and melodies a vocal talent that featured impressive control and a range that commanded the attention of all who heard her. It was at these jam sessions where she met up with local guitar player/songwriter James Houlahan, who had already built up an impressive catalog of original material and had been searching for the vocal partner to deliver his tunes the way he intended them. The two combined to form a powerful musical package, able to produce a seemingly endless flow of great original material with a traditional blues rock base. All they needed were the right band members to complete the project, quality players that would allow them to create and share their music with the world. It would not be long before Andy Hackbarth on keyboards, Adam Soreff on drums, and Matt Ambrose on bass were added to the roster to become what would soon be known as the popular rock band - The Jody Grind (derived from a Horace Silver jazz song).

The Jody Grind has since been on a musical journey that has resulted in the following:
Catalog of original high-energy, blues based rock music
 Impressive and loyal fan following
Critically acclaimed debut CD, Losing Time, with a follow-up release on the way
Regular club, college, and festival performances throughout MA, NY, and CT
Airplay on many FM radio stations in several states
Prominent television features on FOX TV and Public Access, including being a finalist on FOX 25s Morning Idol competition
