An Inspirational Artist Combining a Godly attitude and a soulful flair?
Yes, this is the essence of vocalist, Joseph Elias Defils. Affectionately known as "Jo E."
Hailing from the city of Detroit, birthplace of the Motown sound, Jo E.'s musical influences include Kim Burrell, Donnie Hathaway, Stevie Wonder, James Moss and Michael Franks to name a few. Staying true to his soulful roots and his spiritual convictions Jo E. has developed his own distinct style, preparing for his day to be heard.
That day came when Verity records artist Deitrick Haddon heard his rich stirring vocals and was inclined to offer Jo E. his chance to perform on the gospel release Chainbreaker.
It Didn't End There. . . .
Soon after, he was the opening act in a Street Jam concert headlined by his fellow Detroiter and gospel music legend Fred Hammond. Immediately after Jo E. performed in several musical productions. Not one to rest on his laurels he went on to sing backup for up and coming gospel group Prezence.
And all of this and just fifteen years old.
