Bio

I'm a singer/songwriter/producer/keyboardist in the Atlanta area. I write music that draws from various styles and genres. I like electronic, acoustic, processed, organic and too many other styles to list. I grew up singing, playing piano and making music in various contexts, and my influences range from artists like Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Sam Cooke, John Mayer, John Legend, Michael Bublé, Usher, Jeff Buckley, Sting, Oscar Peterson, Bill Evans and Bud Powell - to all kinds of groups including De La Soul, A Tribe Called Quest, The Roots, Boyz II Men, Phish and more - to a myriad of composers including Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, Liszt, Debussy, Samuel Barber and my all-time favorite composer - J.S. Bach.

I have a degree in composition/piano from Ball State University, and I've performed with various bands and artists in many different contexts for much of my life. I came to Atlanta and began working with Heidi Higgins, a vocal coach at Jan Smith Studios (Jan Smith is a national vocal coach who's client list includes Usher, Rob Thomas, India Arie, Trey Songz, The Band Perry and many more), and in 2010 I recorded two singles with Jan Smith, which she vocally produced. In early 2013 I released a self-produced EP entitled 'Never The Same' and in July of 2013 I released my first music video - shot by Radiant3 Productions (Gavin DeGraw, Rascal Flatts, Musiq Soulchild) and mixed by Shawn Grove (Collective Soul engineer). I'm blessed to be working with a killer group of musicians and producers here in Atlanta and besides sharing my music, I'm looking to connect with other artists, writers, musicians and music lovers!

Here are a few quotes about me from industry folks I've worked with:

Chris Kittredge (Drummer for Arrested Development 2010-2011 Australian/Asian tour as well as drummer and MD for Kinkade) said:  "Working with Joe Aielli has been an incredible experience. In my career as a professional drummer I have worked many great artists all over the world, and Joe is in a league all of his own. Not only is he a great singer, songwriter, producer, and pianist, he has vision for creating an experience that his audience will not forget. Together with the great team of musicians that he has assembled, Joe is sure to make a huge impact on the music industry that will resonate for many years to come."

Collective Soul engineer, Shawn Grove said “Man this guy can play! He's got a great classic R&B/pop vibe a la Michael Jackson as well as a jazz/blues fusion taste with incredible musicianship. Can't wait to see this project out in a live show setting - people will not be disappointed."

Tom Knight (famed Drummer for TLC, Monica and many more) said, "Joe Aielli's "Wait On You" represents the kind of music I love to listen to…the kind of music I love to play…the kind of music that forces me to disengage my ipod's shuffle option--switching it repeat mode instead. With incredibly mature performances from every member of the ensemble and the resulting confluence of pure, funky, feel-good music--mixed with crystal clear production--existing fans will undoubtedly fall in love with the group all over again. And for the rest of those who are not yet familiar, I foresee a hell of a lot of "Shazam-ing" going on any time this song hits the air waves."

"Mama Jan" Smith, Owner, Jan Smith Studios, Inc. (who’s client list includes Justin Bieber, Usher, Rob Thomas, The Band Perry and more) said "Joe Aielli has an infectious heart...in a good way! It shines through his music as well as his smile and draws you in for the pure enjoyment of watching and listening to someone who performs his music with every ounce of himself -- a lesson that many an artist nowadays could stand to learn."
