Lyrics

that aint the girl I once knew

Written By: Joe Barcus

That aint the girl I once knew

Well my friends said that she went wild. They knew more than me
So I waited till she went out, then I followed to see
But when I walked in this place tonight, my heart about hit the floor
Yeah that aint the girl that I once knew dancing on the floor

(Chorus)

Yeah that aint the girl that I once knew dancing on the floor
If I get home before she does she won’t get in no more
Im gonna pack her cloths and things and throw em out the door
That aint the girl I once knew dancing on the floor

(Verse 2)

Well she was having so much fun that she couldn’t see
I was standing there all along while she made a fool of me
She was dancing, kissing, holding him as I walked in that door
yeah that aint the girl that I once knew dancing on the floor

(chorus)

this lady that I hold

Written By: Joe Barcus

This lady that I hold

As she lies there sleeping, I look at her and think
Of these happy years of marriage secure and unique
Her soft hair on the pillow, her beauty makes me smile
Oh I love this lady I hold though the midnight hours

(Chorus)

When she wakes up come morning I’ll be there in her arms
Her soft body next to mine at the coming of the dawn
She’ll tell me that she loves me, wink at me than smile
Oh I love this lady I hold though the midnight hours

(Chorus 2)

I’d love to stay home all day but work must take me away
But she stays there on my mind all though the day
She’ll kiss me when I get home wink at me than smile
Oh I love this lady I hold though the midnight hours
( as she lies there sleeping I look at her and think)

a friend of mine

Written By: Joseph Barcus

A friend of mine
(verse 1)
As a young boy 12 years of age I would set and watch him play
He would pick across the strings and tell stories of yesterday
His words would flow in time like seconds on a clock
I would listen to him play from sun up sometimes until dark
(Verse 2)
He said they took us all from here at the age of 17
Brother bill, cousin bob, and a friend who’s name was Gene
Than a tear came into his eyes as he played the key of “d”
Bill & Bob never came back just me and my friend Gene
(Chorus)
I could hear the mortals blasting as he took me back in time
And the sound of that B minor set it deeper in my mind
(Verse 3)
You see things in a different light at youth and in your prime
Each time I pick up my guitar it takes me back in time
To someone who wasn’t my father, cousin or a brother
But a dear old friend of mine
(Chorus)
I could hear the mortals blasting as he took me back in time
It burns forever in my mind, when he came home, he was blind
Oh he was blind, a friend of mine
