"Review Friends of Music Concert"

Blues Concert well received

An audience of more than 250 enjoyed an exciting afternoon at the Friends of Music concert Sunday afternoon, Nov. 8th in the Community Center.

Arthur Migliazza got things rolling with a lively boogie selection followed by vocalist Joe Bourne's "Birth of the Blues".
Thereafter, things continued to pop with songs containing "blue in the title, a blues mood, and /or boogie-woogie beats. The audience got into the spirit with enthusiastic rhythmic clapping to the beat.

The colorful piano and smooth vocals amid the firm foundations of bass and drums made for an all-round invigorationg experience. Through it all , Bourne-the consummate showman-provided transitional comments between numbers. There were solos by all the performers during the program. Especially outstanding were Bourne's mellifluous acapella rendentions of "Motherless Child" and "Nobody Knows the Trouble I've Seen," as well as Migliazza's fantastic "The Mess Around and "Swanne River." - The Wickenburg Sun / Nov 18, 2009
