-A.C. Hutchinson - Times Argus

""JD3: Live" great addition to any jazz collection"

"...the disc contains a sound so rich and classic you might think you'd walked into a show on 52nd Street in New York in 1956. Heck, at moments I thought Tony Bennett was going to sit in for a song or two."

JD3

The Joe Davidian Trio, known as "JD3," is a modern jazz piano trio, featuring some of the U.S.'s most creative up-and-coming young jazz musicians - pianist Joe Davidian, bassist Jamie Ousley and drummer Austin McMahon. As a trio, they achieve a high level of creativity and spontaneity. "They play as one, strong unit, sounding similar to some of the greatest jazz trios of our time....With loving care they take the haunting melody and build a priceless masterpiece." [ -Paul Youngman, www.jazzreview.com ]

JD3 was formed in 2001 in Miami, where the trio members were attending university, pursing Master's degrees in Jazz Performance. The group served as the rhythm section in the University of Miami's top ensemble, "Concert Jazz Band," and developed their trio approach while backing legendary jazz artists Ira Sullivan, Bob Mintzer, and Dave Liebman.

For the past five years, JD3 has been touring internationally, performing at jazz clubs, festivals and universities in Europe and the U.S. They give clinics on group improvisation and intentional listening at the universities where they perform.

JD3's 2008 album, "Silent Fire," features original compositions as well as modern arrangements of classic American standards. This repertoire mix comprises JD3's live sets, which contributes to their consistently exciting and intriguing performances. JD3 always leaves audiences abuzz and wanting more.
