I've written a lot of musical stuff in my life and I arranged and played a lot of music for other artists. My first complete CD, that Ireleased: The German album “Ein Waldspaziergang”, was sponsored by a German trade-company for natural products (But I hold all the rights on it!). The idea of the customer firm was to make a CD with relaxing music for their busy clients. The music should describe a walk through a wood which ends at the shore of the sea. I like this music very much, because I 've been never working on that kind of music before!
2008 I've finished an album with my friend Matt Kraemer containing songs only in German language. Our songs cover the fast spectrum of emotions. The diverse style of these R&B, Rock, Funk and even Latin themed songs reflect the deep human sensations of joy, sorrow, fear, hate, love and affection, even "schadenfreude" und gallows humor (http://cdbaby.com/cd/kraemerdietz).
2010 I’ve produced the album "Crossing The Bar" with songs of my friend Karl-Heinz Heydecke. This album is a collection of melodized poems of famous old English, Scottish and Irish poets. With this project Karl Heinz has fulfilled himself a long-cherished desire. He finished writing most of the tunes about 35 years ago, when he was still a pupil. But nevertheless are the tunes with their “simplemindedness” of a young guy, properly wrapped in a mix of traditional and modern arrangement, an exceptionality to be heard and very diverting for the listener. The different styles of the pieces and of the arrangements with their wide range from romantic up to even threatening feelings reflect the specific atmosphere of the poems. Joe and Karl Heinz are proud having won Anna Menninger and Marc Arleth for his project. Their voices highlight especially the celtic feeling of the tunes and contribute thus both to the vivid character and traditional roots of the ancient poems. Joe Dietz was competent for the technical realisation and in addition to it he contributed to the creative process by playing the piano and keyboard parts.
2011 I’ve finished the album “My Magic Spell”, the debut album of the exceptionally talented singer Natascha Wallace. I’m not only the producer of the album but even the composer and writer of all songs except one, where I had a cowriter. Natascha has been known to a large German audience as a live performer for quite some time. She started performing at the age of 16 and sang with a variety of bands, which provided the opportunity to accumulate her broad live performance experience and background. This love for live performance is still present today. This electric charge she feels when on stage with fans at her feet is best described in her riveting song “Queen of Universe“. With “My Magic Spell” Natascha Wallace and me demonstrate both our wide range of musical professionalism as well as our special affection and bias for R&B.

At the age of 10, I started my first piano lessons. One year later I proudly hold my first guitar in my hands. It was a present of my grandfather, and I started studying guitar playing. At the age of 15, I had my first Band “The Commons”. Since that time, I have gained a lot of musical experience in a variety of bands and expanded my expertise in different musical fields. I like all styles of music. There’s no genre I don’t like if the music is good! Most recently, for example, I published a primer for young musicians who want to study modern improvisation in jazz.
For many years I have been playing with my “home band” FFRB (www.ffrb.de) a band that embraces the Soul and R&B music of Bands like TOWER OF POWER or EARTH WIND & FIRE. It’s great fun!
As you see, the range of music and musicians which have influenced me is very wide. The fact that I have become acquainted with the music of the great J.B. Bach when I was a very young guy has had as much of an impact as the rock music by Deep Purple or Joe Cocker, as well as the music of Sting and the jazz of the likes of Charlie Parker, Chick Corea and so many contemporary masters of today’s popular music (I especially like Jamie Cullum). That’s why the music work I do is so various. Actually one of my favorite things to compose and arrange is film music
I've got a “Runner Up” Award of the “Song of the Year Song and Lyric Competition” 2006 and an “Honor Award” of “The Great American Song Contest” 2008 and a "Collective Works Songwriter Award" by the "Song of the Year Songwriting Contest 2010"
