Lets Start a Fire

Written By: Joe Forrester

1. Lets Start a Fire

So pack your bags we’re heading out into the dark tonight
forget those things that keep you endlessly awake tonight
with gasoline we’ll burn this building up, up in smoke, up in smoke

So tear my heart out, break my legs and hold me in your arms
subtract my breathing, tape my hands and leave me in the dark
the space between will burn our bodies up, up in smoke, up in smoke

So this is our last drink
and this is the last train home
we’ll tell everyone what we think
we’ll tell everyone what we’ve done

Try, I will

It’ll all be over in good time
And this fire recreates all the flames we’ve survived
It’ll all be over in good time
So let final chapters wave goodbye

Cleanliness, Friendliness and a Sense of Accomplishment

Written By: Joe Forrester

3. Cleanliness, Friendliness and a sense of Accomplishment

You put your foot inside the door only to get it crushed again
and no one loves you anymore because your job’s to hassle them
so kill yourself or stop it now but either way take care
you know and honestly you look fairly stupid in that hat

And this is how you breathe in
and this is how you breathe air in
from out your lungs, inside my lungs

I found myself rethinking every single thing you’d said
so I went home and locked myself inside a box meant for the dead
I woke up lying next to you, sharing a single bed
and close proximity makes a good introduction to fucking

You put your foot inside the door only to get it crushed again
and no one likes you anymore because you’re job’s to fuck with them
so kill yourself or stop it now but just don’t make a mess
you know and Jesus loves you more than us but honestly he’s disappointed

Red Light

Written By: Joe Forrester

5. Red Light

I’ve got a red light in my head
Keeps me getting out of bed
And lets me know on the horizon
Something’s coming up
And I think it will be good
Yes I know it will
And I think it will feel right
To leave this city here tonight

So I pack up my bags
Leave commitments for the rags
So many pieces for a puzzle
I don’t care to solve
And I think it will feel good
When we get there
Yes I think it will feel right
But,

Will you still love me
Will you still hold me
After the darkness and the rain
Lets you unfold me

Will you still call me
You’re one and only
When the last drop has hit the ground
And the sun comes shining out

Wish I could
Clear out my head
All these promises I’ve said
Throw out the phone and lose the car keys,
Buy a synth
Because I feel like letting go
All these obstacles
and I feel the time is right
To leave these dragging boots behind

If you could show me a sign

We Should Be Happy

Written By: Joe Forrester

We Should Be Happy

There’s so many of us holding out, the other’s look surprised
like a western-style stand-off where the good guy surely dies
I can see it from these great white heights that overlook the skies
as we’re thinking about breaking up the whole world looks and sighs

That we should be happy, today
We should be happy with ourselves
We should be happy, my friends
We should be happy with ourselves
