"Joe Gil - Blankets EP"

Joe Gil is one of my favorite up and comers. He has an amazing, chill sound, and his song Woodblock has been on my repeat playlist for months. His new EP Blankets released about a week ago and it is amazing! This is music that you need to add to your study playlist immediately because his songs can sooth any mind, anywhere at anytime. Go below and grab the new EP for FREE and prepare to have his music on repeat for a hot minute! - Tune Tap

"Dreamin' With Joe Gil"

The whimsical voice of folk singer-songwriter Joe Gil is really all it takes to fall for his music. Then you have thought-provoking lyrics tied in with a powerful mix of sounds – piano, acoustic guitar, violin, xylophone, tambourine and so on. The natural storyteller’s wistful vocals and insightful lyrics leave you dazed. Sharing past experiences and advice is common in Gil’s songs. “Don’t look back, we lived our chance. Don’t look back, I packed our past,” sings Gil in the alluring “Packed Our Past.” The USC graduate earned a degree in architecture but decided to pursue music instead. With no prior training, Gil comes from a music family. His father is a singer and his brother is a music composer. Creating well-crafted songs is in his blood. - LA Canvas

"Introducing: Joe Gil"

Coming from a family background of musicians has clearly pushed Joe Gil to strive for musical perfection. He’s not far off it either. The LA singer has created two delicate tracks, stuffed with talent. ‘Wood Block’ is a checklist for the ideal folk song. Emotive guitar? Check. Sweet vocals? Check. Poignant lyrics that would make the stoniest of hearts turn to mush? Check. Gil repeats this winning formula to great success on ‘Packed Our Past’, creating more swoon-worthy melody. Joe Gil is someone to truly believe any hype about. - The Music Ninja

"The Awesome List: October 2010"

A new California-based singer-songwriter you should be paying attention to. His first EP has just come out and features some tracks that yearn to be on an original soundtrack somewhere. Pay a visit to his site and have a listen to “Woodblock” and more. - Joyhog

"In Dee Mail"

Los Angeles singer/songwriter and musician Joe Gil caught our attention with his gorgeous vocals, clever story-telling and impressive songcrafting, most especially on the two tracks he sent us, “Woodblock” and “Packed Our Past”. Gil’s DIY debut EP will be released on Sept. 18th. We love these songs and can’t wait to hear more. - Indie Rock Cafe

"Packed Our Past by Joe Gil"

Nice surprise in my inbox from up-and-coming singer/songwriter Joe Gil. Over the past year he’s been working on his upcoming release and now is working on a west coast tour to promote his release. The self titled EP was produced by John Ryan of Family Affair Productions, look for a release party September 18 at the Hotel Cafe in Los Angeles. - Indie Music Filter

Bio

Joe Gil is not a trained vocalist. He's not a trained guitarist. And he's not a trained pianist. Really, the only thing he is trained in is Architecture, graduating from the University of Southern California. But he's not pursuing Architecture; he's pursuing music.

Joe Gil gleaned his talent from his father, who is a singer, and his brother, who is a music composer. He's based in Los Angeles and has been grabbing the attention of music fans, major label executives, elite producers, and blog writers alike.

Indie/Folk/Pop can best describe Joe's music and all of his songs include "gorgeous vocals, clever storytelling, and impressive song crafting". Although he's not trained to be a singer/songwriter, it certainly seems as though he is.
