"2013 - "Lose Yourself" Cover"

"Our next video is one of the most amazing covers I've ever heard. I was about half way through before I realized this wasn't a Jason Mraz song, but actually an acoustic version of Eminem's "Lose Yourself," sung by Joel Ansett, who I hope goes on to eventually cover every song ever made." - CBS News

"The Huffington Post"

"The sonic lovechild of John Legend and The Tallest Man on Earth, he’s a songwriter to watch. He reminds me of Ben Harper not so much in style but in his daring creative impulses to draw just the right amount from seemingly disparate genres. Musical genres like folk can become so beloved that they become stagnant, so Ansett is particularly refreshing to hear." -

"The Sound Sniffer"

The song opens with really simplistic, slick and mellow guitar riff, Ansett then comes in with his vocals, which are so natural – no false vibrato, no put on accent, no forced notes. This man just sings in a seamless and casual sounding manner throughout. The plucked bass is to die for. For me, this is one of the most relaxing tunes I have heard in 2019 so far, no exaggeration. -

"Born Music"

Based in Denver and currently unsigned, Joel Ansett delivers a perfect blend of R&B with Folk-Pop. Drawing influences from One Republic to Bill Withers, Joel is back with latest single “Slow Down”. Best way to describe the tune would have to be that Joel is simply not slowing down anytime soon. Timeless and somewhat delicate, the latest single is the first single from his upcoming album. -

Songs from Joel's debut full length album, ‘The Nature of Us,’ went on to win national songwriting awards and prompted The Huffington Post to name him a songwriter to watch. Described as “the sonic lovechild of John Legend and The Tallest Man On Earth,” his songs combine folk and R&B to great effect; and beyond the sonic qualities of the music, Artist Review wrote: “This music is soul therapy. It takes us within and shines our own light back at us.”

With a growing, loyal fanbase in his corner, Joel and his fans most recently crowdfunded $33,000 to bring a second full-length album to life. The new album, produced by Jon Joseph, is set to release in the Fall of 2019.
