Bio

"Every now and then, an artist emerges from the crowded field of
contemporary singer-songwriters and manages to stretch the boundaries of
what we call acoustic music. Armed with a powerful guitar and husky,
impassioned vocals, Joel Cage is a force to be reckoned within the
acoustic scene." Roberta Schwartz, FAME & CLUB PASSIM, Cambridge, MA

Since the release of his debut CD Last Hard Road (1997), JOEL CAGE has
exhibited a consistency and dedication one could only attribute to "a
true lifer." An extensive touring/performance schedule of 200+ shows a
year, along with Joel's candid one-on-one approach to audience
communique´ has yielded an ever-growing fan/friend constituency that
spans the country.

Cage's unorthadox and aggressive, yet sensitive, approach to his guitar
styling, vocals and writing, the culmination of years spent performing
with rock'n roll bands, including a three year stint, at a very early
age, with the internationally renown touring/recording group Southside
Johnny & the Asbury Jukes, has earned him the respect and friendship of
fellow New England based colleagues.

"Joel Cage's thoughtful songs are straightforward and sure, with a voice
to match, but it ës his brilliantly sharp guitar-work that ignites the
tunes." THE BOSTON GLOBE

"Joel"s amazingly dynamic guitar playing, his soaring vocals , and his
'high intensity' energetic performance brought our audience to it's feet
screaming for more! Joel Cage's performances - place them in the must
see category" -- Cliff Seltzer, Mainstage Coffeehouse, Mt. Kisko, NY

Joel's CD releases Last Hard Road and Nobody (1998) have been welcome
additions to playlists at radio stations throughout the USA and abroad,
including Germany, France, England, Israel, Slovenia, Italy, Guam,
Belgium, Finland, and Australia. Joel's version of U2's Where The
Streets Have No Name (Nobody) was aired on the internationally
syndicated Acoustic Cafe radio program as part of their Best Unsigned
Artists in the Country series.

"It's a real gift to be able to turn those mysterious sensations of love
into words that don't make people squirm. You've got it. "Bruce Cameron,
'Come All Ye' Radio 2MCE-FM Australia Radio

"If I was to put together a group of intense singer/songwriters for a
seminal concert, Joel Cage would be first on my list!" -- Jeff Thornton,
"Z-93", KZNM, Minnesota

The resume´ continues to expand. Recently, Joel was invited to perform
in the Club Passim / Club 47 40th Anniversary Concert, celebrating 40
years of folk music at one of the nation's most prestigious venues. Joel
also was featured twice at the infamous Bluebird Cafe in Nashville and
received favorable reviews in the widely read Music Row Magazine
(Nashville) and Performing Songwriter Magazine's DIY Department, where,
of Cage's CD Nobody it was declared that "folks, this is how it's done."
The release of Joel's third and fourth CDs, JOEL CAGE LIVE-Windmills Are
Coming and Professional Stranger marks the beginning of what promises to
be a very exciting period. With material for three more CDs is complete
and awaiting production, Joel continues writing and touring throughout
the country.

"With husky, heart-felt vocals and an aggressive acoustic guitar style
reminiscent of Steve Stills, his performances offer more than the
standard bill-of-fare of most folk singers, and more musicality and
sensitivity than your average rock band. Somewhere in between, with a
comprehensive knowledge of both, Joel Cage's performances are both
powerfully energetic, and subtly moving. He is evocative, mesmerizing,
and totally musical, a showman with miles of experience behind him, and
an honesty that is truly engaging." Black Mountain News, Black Mtn, NC
