"JOEL GELEYNSE ROCKS THE REVERB"

Joel Geleynse, aka Joel G, brought a touch of glam to the dark, dingy room at the Reverb this past Wednesday night. Donning a blazer, a touch of gel and bit of eyeliner he and his backing band (with an equal amount of colour and a few sequins) were a bit brighter than the bands that preceded him that evening.

Playing a combination of sing-songwriter ballads and fun pop tunes he started his short set with a couple of slower tunes including the melancholy “Nothing Left To Lose”. Then he launched into the upbeat “Molly”. The danceable tune that he described as a song he’d written for a wedding was as far away from the typical grand wedding ballad as you can get.

Moving easily from upbeat to slower tunes he transitiomed into a couple of break-up songs; the sad love song “Now that You’re Leaving”, and the -- we’ve broken up but I’m probably better for it tune “I Don’t Think You Knew Me Well”.

It seemed like Geleynse and the band were just getting warmed up as the short set ended and though it was clear that the songwriting was solid it was the upbeat, more-danceable songs that were most enjoyable for both band and crowd. - SOULSHINE MAGAZINE

BIOGRAPHICAL INFO

Joel Geleynse is a songwriter, recording artist, and figure skater who gained fame in various arenas, most recently for his performances on European prime time TV. He's the kind of guy who continues to work for every fan and every dollar earned, having lived for two years in a camper trailer to afford his first recording sessions.

His lyrics are probing, self effacing, and honest:

"... I'm a narcissistic pessimist, a self-pitying perfectionist, waiting to be made new"

"...I'm breaking every pact we made, you sadistic two-faced counterfeit because you lied to me..."

After securing a single in the Top 20 in 2011 in Holland (Love You More), his emotive and unique voice continues to generate significant attention. His new single (With You Now) hit #1 on pop100.nl from his latest release "EP2" in the POP100.NL (see the video below).

"Oceanview" and Christmas favourite "It's December" are also available now.

Top 20 artist in the Netherlands 2011, with "love you more".

4000 copies of the 18 track album "rebellion of camouflage" have sold independently, gleaning double national SHAI Award nominations, and Toronto Independent Music Award for Best Live Band 2010.

His catchy pop Christsmas single "It's December" has been heard on radio across the nation: it's edgy, eclectic and emotive (Joel's signature trademark)

Geleynse, the dual-careered figure skater/recording artist is now gaining overnight international exposure since Olympic Figure Skating Gold Medalists Jaime Sale and David Pelletier requested to skate to his release "molly" on the tour of STARS ON ICE.

This is familiar territory for Joel, and his truly international fan base, having recently starred in a popular television series in Holland, and also Istanbul, Turkey which features his latest songs and skating performances. Additionally Joel wrote the theme song for
Chef School, a TV series on the FOOD NETWORK.
