About the Artist:
Joel Gothard spent most of his adolescent years in rural Nebraska, hunting, fishing, and working outdoors on the small farm where he was raised. Born into a musical family, he cut his teeth on some really old Americana type music with a little bluegrass, classical, jazz, country and rock thrown in there from time to time. " I can remember playing the spoons on stage at the age of three or four at the Senior Center with my family. So I never really felt out of place performing in front of people." Some of Joel's most influential performers include Ray Price, Marty Robbins, Faron Young, Jim Reeves, Willie Nelson, Mark Knopfler, Sting, Skillet, Jeremy Camp, Sarah Kelly, and Third Day.

Joel didn't sing much until he was 18 when he asked if he could sing in church. Now he is the worship leader and piano player in a small church in rural Wyoming where he resides with his wife and two children. He enjoys his day job as a self employed carpenter almost as much as he loves performing... "Whether I am building a living space or creating music, it fulfills my artistic desire to make something that can be appreciated, fills a need, or changes a life."

Joel has received several song writing awards in the last couple years while performing at music festivals throughout Nebraska and Wyoming. He was a featured performer at Heritage of the American West in Spearfish, South Dakota in February of 2007. This performance was also broadcast live on radio and world wide web on the Jim Thompson Live show. He has won many regional vocal contests as well, including first place Male Vocalist 2006 at the Coal Country Fiddle Contest held in Gillette, Wyoming and second place in the local Colgate Country Showdown held in Casper, Wyoming.

Joel's unique writing style and wholesome lyrics combined with an emotionally captivating tenor voice have earned him a following at each new venue he performs in his home region of the Rocky Mountain West.

Many of Joel's songs are about the trials and hardships of every day life and how people overcome them every day. Joel has a way of expressing what other people are feeling about something, but don't know how to put it into words. "My goal is to communicate to people, through my music, that I normally wouldn't get the chance to speak to; and get them to think about the really important things in life. With so much negative information being fed to us every day through modern media, I just want to offset that a little with my songs."
