The Weight of Her World

The Weight of Her World
Joe Lickteig

17 ain't old enough, is all she heard them say...
Get your self through college, then you can have it your way
But even they knew that it was real love that brought those kids together
that would send an angel from above

BRIDGE:
Cuz in a moment life can start and a life would end
Life sure got heavy, holdin' that baby in her hands

CHORUS:
The weight of her world was 7lbs 3 ounces
Blue eyed blonde, read the announcement
On August 18, I had my baby girl....
And thats The Weight of Her World

She loved the stories about her dad, how she had his eyes
How he could tell a joke, and make em' laugh till they cried
Her mom walked her down the aisle, they walked a lot through life,
until she couldn't walk with out her, till she had to hold on tight

BRIDGE:
She lifted her into that bed every night alone
That's what you do, when it's your mom

The Weight of Her World, wasn't too much to carry
Old but strong, no trouble remembering
How she took care of her, when she was her baby girl
The Weight of her World

LIFT: Holding on, can only go on so long

The Weight of her World, would go out gracefully
She'll go on, always remembering
that times that they had, when she was a girl
The Weight of her World

Under on the Back Nine

Under on the Back Nine
Joe Lickteig

I had a way of droppin' the ball, lettin most of my friends fall down...
when they thought I'd be there
I cheated most of those first years, takin shortcuts, stearin’ clear
I wasn’t much to have around
but time gets a hold of you, shakes you up, makes you do some thinking

I shot a lot of bogies on the front nine
I was young, I was stupid, and drove away a wife
It took some time to get in the swing of life
But In my grove, findin fairways now
I’ve finally settled down, stayin in bounds
With a woman who loves me, yeah I'm doing' fine
I'm shootin' Under on Back Nine

I'll shoot from the back tees on from here, it's a little harder, but a conscience clear
will keep me on his good side from now on
I'll show my wife a good strong man, to lean on when her hands...
are shaking from a day she can’t forget
I'm glad I've got this far, for all I did wrong, for such a bad start...I'm grateful

I shot a lot of bogies on the front nine
I was young, I was stupid, and drove away a wife
It took some time to get in the swing of life
But In my grove, findin fairways now
I’ve finally settled down, stayin in bounds
With a woman who loves me, yeah I'm doing' fine
I'm shootin' Under on Back Nine

So when that last rains starts to fall, and god gives me that final call, I can say I gave it my all

When Your Man Gets Gone

When Your Man Gets Gone
Mike Lane/Joe Lickteig

I thought I couldn’t live without you, I guess you proved me wrong
Looking back now I can see, you were stringin’ me along
Now I’ll admit there for while that you had me on the ground
It’ll take a bigger man than you to keep me down

So I got up and dusted off what’s left of you
Went to the mall and bought a brand new pair of shoes

That’s what you do when your man gets gone
Get off that thing that you’ve been sittin on
Crank up the volume of that goodbye song
That’s what you do

That’s what you do when your man gets gone
It don’t do no good to sit and bitch and moan
Get up, get out, get on with getting on
That’s what you do when your man gets gone

Had a girl’s week in Vegas, we don’t talk about what stayed there
Let’s just say girls will be boys when they let down their hair
I’m working out and I’m into my skinny jeans again
Feeling’ better ‘bout myself than I ever did with him

Yeah there’s a world outside that world your’ living in
Just open up the door and let it come on in

That’s what you do when your man gets gone
Get off that thing that you’ve been sittin on
Crank up the volume on that goodbye song
That’s what you do

That’s what you do when your man gets gone
It don’t do no good to sit and bitch and moan
Get up, get out, get on with getting on
That’s what you do when your man gets gone

Man gets gone, Long gone, so long

That's What I'm Fishing For

Written By: Joe Lickteig/Mike Lane

That’s What I’m Fishin For

WORMS IN A CUP, ZEBCO ROD
BALL CAP ON BACKWARDS WITH MY PLASTIC TACKLE BOX
I SAT DOWN BESIDE HIM ON THE END OF THE DOCK
DROPPED MY LINE AND WAITED ON MY BOBBER TO BOB

LIFT:
WITH HIS CALLOUSED HANDS HE TIED ON HIS LURE
I SAID HEY GRANDAD WHAT’CHYA FISHIN FOR, HE SAID

CHORUS:
A CUP OF COFFEE WITH THE SUNRISE WARMIN’ MY SOUL
FOR A DEEP BREATH OF FRESH AIR I CAN’T GET INDOORS
AND TO REWIND ALL THE GOOD TIMES TIL THEY’RE GOOD AND WORN
TO KEEP A FEW BUT THROW BACK MORE
AND TALK WITH THE GOOD LORD
THAT’S WHAT I’M FISHIN FOR

HE SAID OVER THE YEARS, I’VE LEARNED IT AIN’T ABOUT
THE ONES THAT GOT AWAY OR THE ONE ON THE WALL BEHIND THE COUCH
THEN HE SET HIS HOOK, PULLED IN A 10 POUND BUCKETMOUTH
HE HELD HIM UP, THEN LET HIM GO, LAUGHIN’ OUT LOUD

LIFT:
HE SAID BOY IF I WAS YOUNGER, HE’D BE A KEEPER FOR SURE
BUT THE OLDER I GET, THE MORE I’M FISHIN’ FOR

CHORUS:
A CUP OF COFFEE WITH THE SUNRISE WARMIN’ MY SOUL
FOR A DEEP BREATH OF FRESH AIR I CAN’T GET INDOORS
AND TO REWIND ALL THE GOOD TIMES TIL THEY’RE GOOD AND WORN
TO KEEP A FEW BUT THROW BACK MORE
AND TALK WITH YOU OF COURSE
THAT’S WHAT I’M FISHIN FOR

BRIDGE:
HE PASSED ON A YEAR AGO
I NEVER CRIED LIKE THAT BEFORE
AIN’T IT FUNNY HOW THE REASONS CHANGE
WHAT BRINGS ME TO THIS SHORE

IS A CUP OF COFFEE WITH THE SUNRISE WARMIN’ MY SOUL
FOR A DEEP BREATH OF FRESH AIR I CAN’T GET INDOORS
AND TO REWIND ALL THE GOOD TIMES TIL THEY’RE GOOD AND WORN
TO KEEP A FEW BUT THROW BACK MORE
AND TALK WITH HIM OF COURSE
THAT’S WHAT I’M FISHIN FOR
