Joel Johnson is a 2015 Maple Blues Awards nominee, 2015 Independent Music Awards winner for Best Blues Album along with 2 nominations for Best Blues Song and Best Instrumental for the album Blues Joose Volume 2 and competed in the International Blues Challenge in 2013 and in 2015. He has also won Best Blues Album for the Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards in 2008 and 2010 for his debut album Blues Joose Volume 1 which also won Best Song Single. With multiple nominations and awards in his musical career, Joel has also performed in many of the well known Blues Festivals and Awards shows such as the Maple Blues Awards, Kitchener blues fest, Southside Shuffle, Calabogie Blues fest, Canal Bank Shuffle and B.B. Kings Blues club in Memphis Tennessee. His performances are described as "high energetic blues with powerful feel".
