Biography

Joel Kaiser started off by writing songs around the age of 7. Rooted in Sunday morning gospel and contemporary chirtistian music, Kaiser tried to break away a bit by forming a rock band with friends and musical mentors alike. The local screamo/alt rock scene helped give him the stage and band experience that would continue his journey towards his yet to be realized dream of pursuing music as a career. His first band Wayside Remedy and later, The Cardboard Cutouts were both catalysts which took Kaiser from musical infancy to where he is today. After his bands parted ways, Kaiser picked up the acoustic guitar and began writing easy going tunes as a means of soul searching.

Honesty drives the lyrics, while a desperate personal need for acoustic innovation (due to a self-taught history on guitar) delivers an interesting mix of alt rock, soulful blues, jazz and indie folk music that appeals to a wide variety of musical tastes and audiences.

Lyrics

Waiting

Written By: Joel Kaiser

Verse 1
I see You waiting
Waiting on me still
Waiting on me still
But wait, but wait…
I’m not compliant
I’m not compliant to Your Will
I’d rather die than have to kill
My hate, my hate
Of being out of control!

Chorus 1
I wanna believe that
It’s all about me and
Finding out what I think I need

Verse 2
I said I'd follow
I said I'd follow to no end
And on Your grace I would depend...
Always, always
But when it comes to pressure,
I've always wound up givin in
[I] forget about You to please them
I caved and I cave
And now I'm out of control!

Chorus 2
I wanna believe that
There's still hope for me and
God I can do something of use!
I wanna believe that
It’s not about me and
God it’s cuz You wait patiently
(Please break through to me!)
Bridge
When will I stop all this?
I’ll come around soon!
I keep on promising it to You!

End Chorus
I now can see that
It’s not about me and
I am not my own!
I wanna believe that
It’s not about me and
God it’s cuz You wait so patiently

Agape Love

Written By: Joel Kaiser

Verse 1
That girl with ‘Agapé’ on her right wrist
Got me in a bind and she don’t know it
And if she does, that’s quite a shame
Though it’s a crush, it’s not a game
When I say, when I say

Pre-Chorus
I’m searching for Agapé
And it is found in Christ
His love’s more than sufficient
And at the same time
She’s hidden in Him now
And what’d I say I’m searchin out?

Chorus
Agapé love (4x)

Verse 2
Seeking Him more as I go on, day by day
It’s my purpose, pleasure, life in every way
Oh I wish I could use this reasoning:
If her heart’s His and I know the King
Then we may be much closer than I thought

Pre-Chorus
I’m searching for Agapé
Thank God it’s found in Christ
His love’s more than sufficient
And at the same time
She’s hidden in Him now
And what’d I say I’m searchin out?

Chorus
Agapé love (4x)

Bridge
I want that love, I need that love
I’m seekin’ out that love
I want that love, I need that love
Seekin’ out that love!
And it’s only found in Christ
Oh and you’re there
At the very same time

Chorus
Agapé love (4x)
Come on now, sing it with me!
Agapé love (2x)

Is Sorrow a Drop On My Finger?

Written By: Joel Kaiser

Verse 1
Is sorrow a drop on my finger
After it rolls down from my eye?
Is it something I can’t remember
Or lovers that still pass me by?
Come on and tell me
Where’d it all come from?

Verse 2
Is the human heart an organ
Or a soul encased within us?
Does their complex combination
Have to be so preposterous?
Come on and tell me;
Where’d it all come from?

Chorus 1
You say either way,
I guess we’ll find out at the grave
But all your wandering don’t seem to move you
From that same place
Where you wish you had the faith,
The faith of a child that once believed

Verse 3
Have we gone and seared out conscience?
Was it even there in the first place?
If there is a truth to be found,
Why have we gone astray?
(Why have we run away?)
And where [are] we gonna go?
Where [are] we gonna go?

Chorus 2
Either way,
I guess we’ll find out at the grave
But all your wandering don’t seem to move you
From that same place
Where you wish you had the faith,
The faith of a child that once believed

Chorus 3
Oh, either way, you say
I guess we’ll find out at the grave
But all your wandering don’t seem to move you
From that same place
Where you wish you had the faith,
The faith of a child that once believed
