Bio

Over the past year Joel Kroeker’s world has turned upside down.

Prior to the release of his True North album
‘Melodrama’ last year, Joel was little known outside of western Canada’s alternative music scene.

This past year, Joel has shared stages with Sarah Harmer, Serena Ryder, Stephen Fearing, Colin Linden, Colin James, and the Payolas. He has also toured twice nationally, opening for both Australia's Paul Kelly, and Hawksley Workman and worked closely with Randy Bachman (including appearing on Randy's "Jazz Thing” album and his Bravo! Special).

As well, Joel's song "The Wind" is featured in the Canadian film "Ham + Cheese"; and his song "Joan of Arc," co-written with Lee Aaron (and performed
by Aaron) , is featured on the soundtrack of another Canadian film "Life, Death & Mini-Golf."

Joel’s songs have also been covered by several other artists in the past year. Lee Aaron included five Joel co-writes on her 2004 album “Beautiful
Things”; Toronto-based Micro Maureen recorded another Joel co-write, “We’re Still Here” on its debut; and Toronto cabaret singer Patricia O’Callaghan recorded “Naked Beauty” as the title track of her recent album
