Bio

Joel Melton writes for anyone and everyone. He draws audiences into the lives and experiences of his character driven story songs with 24-carat talent. Joel's crystal clear acoustic picking and harmonic melody lines provide the perfect background for his masterfully crafted story songs, and his soulful vocals can pack a growl - adding to his charismatic appeal which captivates any audience.

Joel's performances have been captured in some of the country's most highly regarded listening rooms like Nashville's Bluebird Cafe' and Tootsie's, Texas' Cactus Cafe' and Son's of Herman Hall, and Oklahoma's Blue Door.

Joel has perrformed with premier national artists Ian Moore, Ray Wyle Hubbard, Jimmy LaFave, Michael Fracasso, Kevin Welch, Terri Hendrix and Vince Gill. In January 2004 Joel was presented as showcase artist at the annual "Windows on Texas", a music extravangaza featuring some of Texas' best emerging talent.

Melton's productions catalog is comprised of six albums with a seventh now in production. Joel's song Bessie Begins to play from his "Little Max" CD held the # 6 spot on Mp3's top 40 for a full month after its release, and the Emmy nominated series "Tale Lights" lisenced three of his songs for use on their programs one of which aired May 3, 2000 on the Bravo Cable Network. Melton's "John Bricker's Journey" album showed up at the #20 spot on San Antonio's 3rd Coast Magazine's Freeform American roots Chart Summer of 2003. In April 2004. Killeen, Texas PBS station, KNCT TV, featured Never Surrender from the same album on a special bradcast from Fort Hood during a celebration for returning soldiers from Iraq in April, 2004.

Joel Melton recently moved to Texas and began his second decade of writing, producing and performing his music. And, he just keeps getting better and better and better.
