"All the pretty colours"

Kaleidoscope The Keys is certainly an appropriate title for Joel Myles’ EP. The colourfully diverse array of tracks demonstrates exactly how pop-rock should be approached, and never falls into passive background noise. The transition between songs has the same air of pleasant anticipation of reaching into a big bag of Jelly Belly all-flavoured beans – it’s impossible to predict what you’ll get next, and where’s the fun in that anyway? Brisbanite Myles’ voice is refreshingly Australian, and it’s not difficult to see why his hit single Smoke And Mirrors was voted into the Rock top 50 for MusicOZ 2010. Listeners will come away more likely than not humming along to an internal opus of choruses oozing theatrics. Track two on the EP, Unpunishable, commences with a rather unexpected classic guitar riff, which works splendidly with the album’s ethos. Myles’ album is set for release this month and with any luck it will deliver the same refreshing spontaneity that Kaleidoscope The Keys encompasses so effortlessly. - - JAYVIA MAGINI, Rave Magazine (Apr 20, 2010)

Joel Myles is an artist with a gift for clever wordplay. His songs are diverse, engaging, catchy and delivered with passion, exuberance and punch by his full Rock band sound. Not your typical singer-songwriter. Joel has been influenced by many guitar driven bands such as Powderfinger, Foo Fighters, R.E.M, Silverchair and mixes his musical interests in Blur, The Beatles, Joy Division, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, The Whitlams and Josh Pyke into a unique Pop Rock Australian sound that sets him apart from other Male artist solo stories.
