Bio
Jörg Schippa is a guitarist/composer living in Berlin. His main interest is to develope his own musical language either as a solo-artist or as a member of a group. He was influenced by Miles Davis an d Jim Hall because of their ability to develope their music for their whole life. He felt the need to expand his musical vocabulary and was soon attracted by the music of Jimi Hendrix, Ry Cooder, Prince, Tom Waits a.o. on one hand, and Bartok, Stravinsky, Messiaen, Ligeti, Schnittke on the other.
Because of these influences his music is next to up-to-date contemporary jazz/avantgarde music, but is still groovy and melodic. He likes to choose unsual instrumentation:
His actual band features clarinette, bassclarinette, drums and acoustic guitar
His last released CD "Rattle the cage" uses flute, bassclarinette, cello, marimba, drums and electric guitar.
