Bio

Joe Volume is a 24 year old singer songwriter from Mexico City, he grew up in LA. He started his career in 2006 with his self-released EP "Real, not right" with his then band "Los Vincent Black Shadows", pretty soon the band decamped to Montreal after an invitation to play there. They ended up doing a small U.S. and Canadian tour.
Upon return Joe recorded and produced the band´s first LP "I (heart) broken (hearts)" playing all the instruments himself.
The album, released in 2007, was a major hit both with the critics and the public. With two singles in heavy rotation on local radio stations and award nominations the band played for a year and a half before playing for 10,000 people at a show with Los Dynamite (now Rey Pila) and The Mexican Institute of Sound. Joe decided to end the band for good after the show mainly because he wanted to record another album while his bandmates wanted to rest. Taking only lead guitarrist B.Riot with him, the pair started working on songs and established themselves as a duo recording the album with different backing bands and rhythm sections. The result "Picture Perfect Paranoia" was released in 2008 and gave the band the award for Best Punk/Garage album at the Indie-O Music Awards in their 2010 edition. The band had already earned a nomination for Best New Artist in the 2007 edition.
Joe and his new band (including B.Riot) The Shot O´Clock already had recorded another album in January of that same year. Released in september 2010 "The Shameless" was Joe´s first non self-released album. The album was produced by Joe and Mixed by Tito Fuentes from household Mexican band Molotov and mastered by Fred Kevorkian notorious for his work with Sonic Youth, The White Stripes and Willie Nelson.
After a long stream of shows Joe Volume was invited to participate in the Red Bull Sounderground Festival in Sao Paolo, Brazil. The band culminated promotion for "The Shameless" with a triumphant and energetic performance at Latin America´s biggest festival 2011´s Vive Latino. With Vice Magazine naming them the third best act of the three day festival which included acts such as Jane´s Addiction and Chemical Brothers.
Just three days later "The Shameless" received nominations for "Rock Album of the year" and "Producer of the year" for Joe´s messy production, he was nominated with acts such as She´s a Tease, Natalia Lafourcade and Enjambre.
Joe and B.Riot soon recorded another album in one day entitled "Lonesome water, Lonely sea" with help from friends such as Yokozuna´s Arturo Tranquilino and Polka Madre´s Andrew Cameron. It´s release has been announced for February 2012.
