Joey Cougar & The Starfish formed in Salt Lake City in 2008. They quickly gained a local following with their clever lyrics, energetic presence and on-stage banter. After recording an EP (In Church At 8, In Jail By 10), they embarked on a tour of Utah, Colorado, Minnesota, Illinois, Indiana and Iowa (including shows at the Hi-Dive in Denver, CO, Club Underground in Minneapolis, MN and a two-night exclusive gig at The Caddy Shack in Council Bluffs, IA.
Joey Cougar & The Starfish are known for a whimsical improvisational style on stage.
The bands influences include 1990s ska, country & western, Fountains of Wayne-type pop, The Flaming Lips, The Cramps, Man or Astroman?, The Clash and Morrissey.
