Bio
I was raised in the Seattle area and grew up with a keen sense for the mixing and matching of words and melodies. When I was a little girl, I would wait 'til we were on the freeway to make up my own songs in the back seat, so that no one could hear my inventions. Now, as a young woman, I treasure the musical crafting of Ani Difranco, Dave Matthews, Regina Spektor, Over the Rhine, Ginny Owens, Jennifer Knapp, Bright Eyes, Sleeping At Last, and The Fire Theft. And although it is hard to recreate the feeling I get from the hearts of those performers and songwriters, I take from them a new sense of inspiration that leads to my catchy, yet, often intricate songs. I am a very transparent human being and hope to be as honest as they come, while still connecting with my audience. I am a girl from a middle class, white, Christian family who wants to pay more attention to the voicesless and the oppressed; even the captives in our youth today. I do not write songs to make money or something nice to hear, I write songs because they are the only way I have of truly making my point in most matters...a lot of which are not easily proven. I hope to enter and leave a room and its audience in a better state than I found them.
