The product of a Maori dad and Austrian mum, it’s no wonder that JOHANNA HEMARA has such an incredible vocal talent. As a yodeller, she is considered one of Australia’s finest (what a set of lungs!) and as a pretty vivacious young blonde, she brings a load of glamour to that genre. But as a contemporary country singer she also stands out. She certainly found the right mix with co-producers NEIL CHEVERTON and SIMON TONX, whose careful crafting of her new album Goodnight Sweetheart brings out every emotion and lots of vocal passion. Neil is also an extremely fine songwriter; Girls Were Meant To Be Hurt and Goodnight Sweetheart are superb. Daddy is a tearjerker full of sincere love and respect. Johanna has, of course, included a good number of yodels on the album; Mountain Yodel, Jo’s Yodel, I Was Born To Yodel and That’s How The Yodel Was Born are fabulous listening. I’m tongue-tied and seriously ear-twisted!

Johanna Hemara is a singer songwriter who is about to take the country music world by storm. Based in Sydney NSW Australia, Johanna started singing and yodelling at a very young age,
and has won a number of awards at the tamworth country music festival,
Known best for her ability to yodel with ease, Johanna also has an amazing singing voice with a big range, and can sing just about any style of music, although country is her passion.

In 2004 Johanna was named a top 20 finalist in the prestigious Toyota Starmaker,
Johanna's dynamic vocals, originality and stage presence, sets her apart from the rest.
In 2005 Johanna was nominated for a golden saddle award and in 2007 was nominated for the Johnny O'Keef best new talent award at the 31ST MO award's.
Johanna has just released her debut album "Goodnight Sweetheart",which showcase's her versatility from country to country rock, big ballads and even yodelling.
her first single "Daddy" is a heartfelt song written by Johanna as a tribut to her dad "Cookie" who passed away suddenly at the young age of 52, a beautiful ballad, it tells the story of her trying to cope and understand why it happened and dealing with the fact she never got to say goodbye.
