Originally from Saratoga Springs, NY, Johanna moved to Nashville in 2000. She began songwriting in 2002 and is now gaining recognition in Music City for her songwriting. She has had songs pitched to, and on hold with, major label artists. In 2008, Johanna finally released her own record, "What It's Like To Fly." Since then, she has become more confident, and true, to her songwriting, and is in the process of creating another album, with a sound that will show her growth as a musician, songwriter, and person. Johanna hopes her music can make people think, feel, cry or laugh...and just get away from reality for a few minutes!
As Johanna's songwriting has continued to grow, she has now had songs pitched to major-label artists in Nashville, along with being pitched to TV and film opportunities. She has signed a publishing deal with Shadow Mountain Music, and is also now working with Vyral Music. Her song, "Do It Again" was featured on an episode of the webseries "Venice- The Series" this fall (2010).
Johanna's musical influences are really all great music. But the ones who stand out are Alison Krauss, Mindy Smith, Sheryl Crow, Sarah McLachlan, Colbie Caillat and Norah Jones.
