"Jo Hikk Rides high in reviews"

Solid… I can't find anything bad to say about this". re: Closer ..

Marc Patric MAGMEDIA, music director JRfm 93.7 Vancouver BC -Dec 19th 2007

"If you're looking for something to heat up these winter months, get yourself a copy of Ride, buckle up and prepare for one hell of a fun and entertaining trip!"

Shannon Ambrose Canada Jams - ..Canada's live music showcase - Jan 12th 2008

"Falling somewhere between the mainstream appeal of Rascal Flatts and the outlaw edginess of Montgomery Gentry, Jo Hikk have recorded an excellent rockin' country album that features solid songs, impressive playing and impeccable production. Their debut disc "Ride" easily puts the quartet in the same league as Doc Walker, Emerson Drive and the Roadhammers"

Bruce Leperre music director CKDM 790 Dauphin MB / Winnipeg Free Press - Jan 22 2008

"Get In! Sit Down! And Buckle Up!... because Jo Hikk's newly released cd, "Ride" is going to do just that. . . take you on a ride of the most enjoyable musical journey you've ever taken in a long while.
This album continues to show off the talents of a band that has everything going their way but recognition, which is bound to change after a release of this quality".

Review by Steve Miller, Dark Horse Music & Artist Promotion NASHVILLE 24/02/2008

"If this new cd by Jo Hikk could be compared to a rollercoaster, then YOU my friend are in for one hell of a RIDE!" "Jo Hikk is an excellent breath of fresh air with outstanding original tracks".

Dave Currie / Host ~ THE ROCKIN' ROADHOUSE - 101.5FM Guelph Feb/26/2008

"Jo Hikk is a four–man band out of Alberta, making their disc debut with this solid country /rock album, which has already yielded a national hit tune, Closer. While closer has been an out-of-the-box hit for Jo Hikk there are a couple of other tunes here that should prove to be equally successful".

Larry Delaney Country Music News Ottawa, Canada National Publication – Feb / 2008

"If you're looking for some hot Southern Rockin music that has great guitar rifts reminiscent of Lynard Skynard combined with ballads that will warm your heart and soul, check out Ride the new cd by Jo Hikk..."
"I predict in my Crystal Ball that these four Boys from Calgary who make up this unique sound are definately headed for a big , bright Future in the music Biz. Two thumbs way up !!"

Bio

JO HIKK wasn’t born yesterday....Hailing from Calgary this established Country Rock act has been playing together for some time now. In the last 3 years they have become one of Alberta’s top drawing “live” acts in the club, concert and festival scene. With a new album released in 2008 called Ride, Jo Hikk is now becoming one of Canadian Country Music’s newest rising stars.

The band is comprised of brothers Kelly (lead vocals/bass) and Kenny Sitter (guitar/vocals) with Al Rheaume (drums), Don Jorgensen (keyboards/vocals) and Al Doell (guitar /vocals rounding out the line-up. Performing shows from Canada to Kandahar, Jo Hikk has shared the stage with some of the music’s biggest names.

Known for their great vocal sound, energy and playful antics, Jo Hikk has a proven track record as a real crowd pleaser. This powerhouse country act is a prime example of where "Slick meets Hikk”. The music is upbeat and the show is high energy and fun. Jo Hikk has a rapidly growing fan-base across Canada and the US, and is also making waves on radio and on the internet. Tight harmonies and infectious beats will keep the crowd' dancing.

As songwriters, the band has been developing their own material over the years and as a result, recorded a five song EP produced by Bob Foster (Jan Arden). The buzz generated by their original tracks attracted not only many new fans worldwide, but also the interest of several music industry professionals.

Early in 2006, Jo Hikk signed a management deal with MCC Entertainment/Landis Productions and work began on their new full length CD with multiple award winner, George Canyon signing on as co-producer. The album was recorded in Nashville’s famed Masterphonics Tracking Room, and at MCC Recording Studio in Calgary.

The new album titled "Ride" features songs penned by Jo Hikk, along with fellow Canadians A.J. Goodvin, Randy J. Martin, Gordie Sampson, Sean Hogan, Cyril Rawlson, and George Canyon. The album also includes songs written by some of Nashville's top writers Pete Sallis, Neil Thrasher, Ritchie MacDonald and Bo Allen.

Currently, Jo Hikk is riding high on the strength of their new single “Sweet City Woman”…
This version of the Stampeders’ famous song is garnering Jo Hikk new fans across the country and the song is charting high on all of the major industry charts (mediabase, BDS, R&R and Billboard)… In 9 weeks, Sweet City Woman has hit the #22 spot in Canada and has become a major hit for the band.

All of this has attracted a lot of attention for Jo Hikk from fans, the media and the music industry. In 2007 Jo Hikk was nominated by the Canadian Country Music Association for the “CCMA -Chevy Trucks Rising Star” award which instantly placed them among their piers and gained them national press. Since then the band has received other nominations including 2008 CCMA ‘Top New talent’ group or duo, 2008 CCMA ‘Producer of the Year’ for Ride and 2008 WCMA ‘Outstanding Country Recording of the Year’ for Ride…
