And So You Live On

Written By: John Barclift

And So You Live On

Words you wrote so long ago
Turn up from time to time
They take me to a place I know
Where wall clocks played their chimes

Other things about you
I see in strangers passing by
A certain curve, a certain move
A certain look of the eye

And once in a while
I see your face
Enjoy again your smile
Your style and grace
You looked to find
Things we could build upon
They stay in my mind
And so you live on

You went on, through to the sky
And everywhere around
Your spirit washed the tears I cried
As I stood here on the ground

I’ll go on without you
Having said all our goodbyes
And I’ll be thinking of you
When that stranger passes by

And once in a while
I see your face
Enjoy again your smile
Your style and grace
You looked to find
Things we could build upon
They stay in my mind
And so you live on

In Their Hand

Written By: John Barclift

In Their Hand

On this grain of sand
I hold in my hand
Lives a world too small to behold
With my eyes open wide
It continues to hide
But it’s there all the same I know

Inside that world
Live a boy and a girl
Whose lives are about to collide
Then without a sound
They’re knocked to the ground
And looking for places to hide

What just happened
The world just moved
It’s as though we crossed both time and space
Or was it our hearts
And is this the start
Of something we both should embrace

No wait it was me
Standing here by the sea
Holding this sand in my hand
What effect have I had
Is not knowing bad
Am I hiding my head where I stand

Do we know what we do
As the sand just slips through
And falls to the earth where we stand
It’s all relative you know
But before letting go
Who’s holding our world in their hand
