John Charles

John Charles

BandFolkSinger/Songwriter

A blending of genres Acoustic/Folk/Americana, by taking elements of early roots rock music of the 60's and 70's and adding a new singer/songwriter appeal.

Biography

After only two years of writing and performing music and opening for acts such as Marshall Crenshaw and Jason Spooner, John Charles is on the verge of releasing his second self-produced album, Livery Stable. A nine track composition of entirely acoustic and all original material was recorded this summer in Boston. After being mixed on the same board that Pink Floyd’s “The Wall” was recorded on, and later dumped onto tape, John Charles will try to bring out a old time analog feel in his new music. The album ranges from songs like "The Words" filled with mandolin riffs and solos that give off a rich Folk Rock feel to tracks like "Get What You Need" that pull you in on the first note with a riveting acoustic guitar intro followed by a melodic Dobro accompaniment. With the production of this record, John Charles will be performing at various venues around the Northeast throughout the fall and winter months. John and his backing band hope to bring out in their performance a new modern approach to Folk Rock music as well as retaining the same old time acoustic sound the album Livery Stable will convey

Lyrics

Give Me Back My Blues

Written By: John Charles

I took the long road home tonight
There was so much on my mind
I thought to myself real hard
Now I can't see my scars

Every thing's waking up
I can see the truth
I'm blinded by your love
Baby give me back my blues

They tell me its a sin
To break up and start again
Now i'm living that life
Baby I'm feeling alright

Every thing's waking up
I can see the truth
I'm blinded by your love
Baby give me back my blues

What kind of man am I?
I taught myself how to lie
I'll tell you what
I'm tired of living it rough

Every thing's waking up
I can't see in the dark
I'm telling you what to do
Girl I'm taking back my blues

The Words

Written By: John Charles

Take the words right out of my mouth
After all we've done is scream and shout
You say you miss me
But your just missing life

All at once you take me by surprise
When your done you ask the reasons why
You say your easy
But I can't figure you out

Whats the sense of crying
for crying out loud
Whats the sense of listening
when the words make no sound
All of my life, the words crash down

In the evenings we sit and sleep
Dreams of happiness spill out our feet
We lay in sorrow
When all the lights go out

When I wake you are never there
Then I find one strand of your hair
Then I see you
And your still holding me tight

Whats the sense of crying
for crying out loud
Whats the sense of listening
when the words make no sound
All of my life, the words crash down

So take my advice
and I'll take yours
Float like a bird through an ocean storm
Maybe we'll get stranded
maybe we'll find shore
Only the wind can know for sure
Its a game we score

Whats the sense of crying
for crying out loud
Whats the sense of listening
when the words make no sound
All of my life, the words crash down

Only You

Written By: John Charles

All my life
I felt whole
Until I saw you

With just those lips
and those eyes
They made me feel alive

I fell so far
I wanted more
from you
You picked me up
with just your look
Only you

As time goes by
I hear your voice
Echo through this room

You once were here
Not so long ago
When I wasn't so alone

I fell so far
I wanted more
from you
You picked me up
with just your look
Only you
