Biography

John Charles Weston – Singer/Songwriter, Recording Artist

John Charles Weston is a singer/songwriter based out of Chicago, Illinois. Over the past four years John’s main focus has been writing, recording and touring with his most recent group, The Buzzkills – a classic rock and roll quartet based out of Bloomington, Indiana. In August of 2010, however, John relocated to Chicago in order to further pursue his career as a solo musician.

Almost four months prior to his Chicago move (April 23, 2010) John and the rest of The Buzzkills released what John considers to be “the best musical work (he has) ever been a part of creating”. This self-titled release was his second with the group, and his fifth of all time. On the The Buzzkills E.P. (recorded in Bloomington, Indiana at The Bluebird Nightclub and Attic Recording; engineered by Dewayne Schunn and Eric Day) John is one of the two main writers, lead singers, guitar players, and producers. The seven-track E.P. features a variety of rock styles including riff-based songs (“What it Is”, “Where Are We Going?”), songs with extended jams (such as the Wilco-esque, Alt-Rock inspired “I Can’t Stay”, and the heavy guitar anthem titled “I’m Not There”) and even an acoustic, vocal-centric tune titled “And You’re Crying”.

Prior to this release, John has worked on a full length album with The Buzzkills (titled Which Way is Down), a full length album with the band AEquitas (titled Save Me), a self-titled E.P. with the band AEquitas, and has released multiple demos of solo material.
Currently, John is working on his first official solo E.P. which is scheduled to be release in the winter of 2010/2011.

Aside from his career as a writer and performer, John highly values his career as a musical instructor. While attending school at Indiana University, Bloomington, John taught at the Stafford Music Academy, Vance Music, Fairview Elementary School and privately at his own home. He considers teaching to be one of the most rewarding ways of imparting passion, appreciation and understanding of music.
