John Dunbar & the midwest tragedy band

Formed in april 2011 by John dunbar and Joniel Prouty "John Dunbar & the midwest tragedy band" hit the ground running. Playing lots of gigs in and around oklahoma city and honing their sound and skills. The goal from the start of the creation was to be an original band and not just a bar cover band. The band also recorded an ep in the fall of 2011. The bar crowds loved their set list that included their original songs, red dirt, rock, classic country, southern rock, and blues mixed in. In October 2011 the original guitar player left the band leaving a search for a new lead player. When they found Dwight Hamlin in December of the same year the band was better than ever. Writing new songs and perfecting the old ones were made easy with Dwight's incredible guitar playing. Every member has come along way from the startup of the band and is excited about 2012!

John Dunbar-
25 year old John Dunbar didnt start playing at a young age like alot of musicians. Born and raised in northeast oklahoma and now living in Blanchard, Ok. John was introduced to Cross Canadian Ragweed, Jason Boland, The Great Divide, Stoney Larue, Casey Donahew, and other red dirt acts when he was a senior in high school. Thats when his love of music grabbed ahold of him. For the first time he heard music that he loved instead of just heard. At 21 years old he bought his first guitar spent time to learn the instrument, and started playing around oklahoma city at open mic nights. Meeting some people he got some encouragement to keep playing and singing. Always having forming a band in the back of his mind he met Joniel Prouty. Joniel played drums and he and John started playing together eventually forming the band.

Joniel Prouty-
Joniel Prouty 22 born and rased in Newcastle, Ok started playing the drums at 9 years old. His dad told him he would buy him a kit if he would learn "in da goda davida." (and he did) Joniel took lessons all through his youth including lessons from Dave Bowen who now plays with "Cody Canada & the departed."

Dwight Hamlin-
At only 19 years old Dwight Hamlin is an accomplished guitar player. Born in Texas and moved to Blanchard, Ok in high school, Dwight started playing guitar at 7 years old. He started a band at 15 years old called "Promises Revolt" and is still the front man for that band. Dwight was accepted to AMC UCO after high school for guitar and is currently enrolled there. He still takes lessons and is taking them currently with Alan who is the lead guitar player for "Stoney Larue" and "Mama Sweet."

Chad Purser-
Jack of all trades Chad Purser plays bass in John Dunbar & the midwest tragedy band, but the 28 year old can play guitar, drums, and sing as well. Born and raised in Pawhuska, Ok and now living in Edmond he is a vital part of this band. His steady bass flow and awesome harmonys give alot of texture to the sound. Chad has been playing guitar since childhood and studied music in college. He is also the frontman in a three piece rock band named "META"
