Bio

John Edgar Voe is a collective of Irish musicians, led by Songwriter Martin J Corrigan. The band came together after Corrigan had a dream in late 2008, where he encountered a Scottish character in 18th century America singing the song "Thelma". He woke with both the song and the singer's name stuck in his head. Upon finding no reference to either the singer or song, apart from a definition of voe meaning an inlet bay or creek in the Shetland islands, he decided to use both.
After putting a band together from the local pool of musicians they played their first gig in May 2009 at the Belfast Cathedral Arts Festival, widely regarded as the gig of the event. They then went into the studio to record an album. Four months later they emerged with the limited edition single "From a Soldier",which has garnered widespread Irish radio play and praise, with BBC presenter Joe Lindsay hailing it as one of the most beautiful things he had ever heard. The band have just finished a three week sold out raucous residency at the Menagerie Bar, Belfast. A new single is to be released at the end of February with the album "Read Before Opening" to follow shortly afterwards.
