Bio
Growing up in his hometown of Charlotte NC, John Foley’s father was a bassist always playing locally. As a child, his room was just above his father’s music room, so he would often fall asleep to the rumbling of drums shaking his room. Later, his father would show him the basics of guitar and Foley went on from there. Although he didn’t take the instrument too seriously until he was about 16 when he started writing songs, things changed quickly. Focusing on lyrics and songwriting from there on out, he honed in his skills and ended up recording a certain set of songs. It was then that he realized he was onto something bigger.
With the release of the Premonition EP, John Foley brings a new feel to a classic genre. Lush with addicting guitar progressions, soulful vocals, and a classic rock attitude, the record boasts the aesthetic of indie folk anthems. Though the songs are diverse from one another, there is a glue that holds it all together much like a concept album would. Most importantly, the record never loses sight of the emotional platform from which great songs are built.
