"CD Review- All THe Right Words - June 2005"

Armed with a lone acoustic guitar and his voice, John Gerard tracked these fifteen compositions within a four hour period and came out of the recording studio with a fulfilling collection of songs. Introspective and deeply personal, Gerard was able to capture the sentiment of not only his heart but the hearts of many. Sadness, glory, anticipation, happiness and dissappointment are just a few of the emotions that are revealed in Gerard's songs, and his innate ability to present those feelings from song to song are quite compelling.

Weaving graphic prose amid his percussive acoustic guitar style, Gerard conjures picturesque imagery with journeyman precision. His sense of timing, dynamics and conviction help to make these songs more than just one dimensional offerings. His talents lie in breathing life into the guitar which then transcends the haunting silence around it.

Guitarist Steve Rapson adds nice melodic accompaniment to four of the albums cuts as well as tracking the entire album, capturing Gerard's emotional mix and sentiment. - Metronome Magazine

"EP Review - Full Circle - February 2004"

John Gerard is an about face. He’s dramatically inked, build like a hardcore kid out of DC. To look at him, one imagines chugging rock arrangements. Instead, John Gerard’s new album Full Circle opens melancholic post rock progressions and vulnerable lilting vocals....It's no small feat to record a stripped back solo acoustic songwriter album without losing something compelling in the emptiness. Billy Bragg achieved it over time with the recording that would become "Back to Basics", just a guitar and voice. Gerard does it here, almost perfectly for five songs. - Newspaper Taxi

"Quote"

“... What do you get is a perfect melodic environment, in which lyric moves like some submarine creature. Mysterious images surface and vanish, the overall effect transports the listener through the best post-rock solo songwriting that I’ve ever heard. Period." - James O'Brien, singer/songwriter

"Quote"

"This guy has a voice that will blow you outta your seats! Powerful. John doesn’t give casual performances. People who frequent our open mic often end up asking "who is that guy with the amazing voice, the amazing songs?" John Gerard has often shown up to share his music and lit up the room with his special kind of fire." - Red Door Coffeehouse

Bio

What do you do after years of fronting bands stretching from 80's indie rock to CBGB’s punk? You stop and start again. In January of 2003, John Gerard picked up his acoustic guitar and embarked on a journey to tell the only story he knew, his own.

Born in Paris, France, John grew up listening to Billy Joel, The Police, and Serge Gainsbourg, "the dirty mouth of French pop". After moving to Massachusetts at a young age, John was introduced to Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Minor Threat, and Iron Maiden. These new sounds became an escape from what John would later draw inspiration from. After forming a band at the age of 14, John played his first gig one year later. This was the starting point for many bands to follow. Now a solo musician, John has released four separate recordings and has shared the stage with both local and national musicians. John has captured audiences with his ability to keep his performance raw and tangible. This emerging artist resonates with the passion for story telling and brutal honesty. His energy is contagious and his true talents of expressing emotions are evident.

Tom Driscoll, singer/songwriter says, “This guy has a voice that will blow you outta your seats! Powerful. John doesn’t give casual performances.”
