The best kept secret in music

"Ginty is known for his great organ work with the Family Band, playing off of the energy of Randolph. But, on " I Shall Not Walk Alone", it is his beautiful piano work that makes the song. For any fan of Ben Harper- or music in general, for that matter- this song is worth the price of the album."

" with any good sermon, it's the man behind the keyboards who keeps you awake. John Ginty's simple piano melodies, throbbing Hammond organ, and untamed attack on the Wurlitzer adeptly anchor this album."

Feeling a bit camera shy

A New Jersey native, organist John Ginty has performed and recorded with artists such as JEWEL, SANTANA, BOB WEIR & RATDOG, MATHEW SWEET, SHERYL CROW, RYAN ADAMS, BAD RELIGION, CITIZEN COPE, and was an original member of ROBERT RANDOLPH and the FAMILY BAND, in which John received two Grammy Nominations, as well as a Gospel Music Award for Urban Album of the year, 2003. In that same year, John also appeared on the Blind Boys of Alabama's Grammy Award winner "Higher Ground". His discography spans over a decade, and demonstrates his eclectic influences and unique sounds on keys.

In late 2005, John put together his own band, made up of some of the finest musicians from the local New Jersey music scene. In rehearsals, the band developed a unique sound...Hammond organ driven, improvisational, well-crafted American songwriting laced with Latin rhythms, gospel and southern soul guitar...described once as "Outlaw Gospel".

In October, the band embarked on it's first run of shows, teaming up with San Francisco based supergroup Jemimah Puddleduck comprised of Mark Karan (Bob Weir, Ratdog), John Molo (Phil Lesh, John Fogerty), J.T. Thomas (Bruce Hornsby), and Bob Gross (Albert King). The tour was a huge success for the band, and has since inspired JG and the Band to pursue this music, and take it on the road.

John Ginty Band was recently selected from among hundreds of Sonicbids submissions to perform on the main stage at the Langerado Music Festival in Sunrise, Florida. John Ginty was also invited to participate as a panelist at the festival press conference alongside Art Neville (The Meters) Michael Franti (Spearhead) JJ Grey (Mofro) and Wayne Coyne (The Flaming Lips).

The bands debut double-live album "Fireside Live" was recently released in Spring 2006.
