Bio

John's love of music started when, as a young boy in the late 1970s, he used to listen to his father's band jamming in the basement. In the second grade, his favorite t-shirt said "Future Rock Star." Today, his ambitions are more modest, but no less earnest.

Whether strumming an acoustic guitar and crooning at a coffeehouse, getting "jiggy" (in the Irish sense) on mandolin, or funking out on bass, John has been an active performer for about seventeen years. He studied music composition and voice at Bowling Green State University, where he also played guitar and bass in the bands Streak and The Love Piranhas. Back in Cincinnati, he has been seen with Pablo Honey, the Seth Alder Project, and as a solo performer. Currently, John is playing bass in The Infinity Ball and the Pink Floyd tribute band Signs of Life.

An accomplished multi-instrumentalist, John plays guitar, bass, mandolin, piano, trumpet, and voice, and probably a couple of others that he just can't bring to mind right now. His musical interests range from the progressive rock of Frank Zappa, to the British folk of Martin Carthy, to the avant-garde textures of George Crumb.
