Lyrics

Porch Light

Written By: John Lewis

You were booking a flight
I was watching you pack
How was I supposed to know
That you weren’t coming back

Should have looked for the signs
They were so obvious
But I never believed
This could happen to us

And I thought we were strong
Just like Bonnie and Clyde
Guess I must have forget
In the end they both died

Like a knife in the back
Like a shot in the heart
Can I hit the rewind
And go back to the start

Most days I just can’t figure where I’m at
And their just two things I have to say
The porch light is on, and the key’s under the mat
The porch light is on, and the key’s under the mat

And at first I was cold
Cause my heart was destroyed
Started drinking too much
Just to fill up the void

Then it hit me one day
If I loved you so much
How could I just give up
On this feeling of love

And now I’m begging you to come on back
And their just two things I have to say
The porch light is on, and the key’s under the mat
The porch light is on, and the key’s under the mat

How could this ever of happened to us
Just when you started to gain my trust
And I’m not willing to let you go
The pain in unbearable baby I need you back home
The porch light is on, and the key’s under the mat
The porch light is on, and the key’s under the mat
