Bio
I was born and brought up in Dundee situated at the mouth of the River Tay on the East coast of Scotland. I was a teenager in the 60's and my father came home one night with a guitar when I was fourteen years old and I've been playing ever since. The first songs I learned were all the Bob Dylan songs from that period then Tom Paxton and some Phil Oches. At the same time I was enjoying the Beatles and the Rolling Stones. During the seventies I played this kind of music in pubs and clubs around Dundee, Fife and Angus. When I moved to Lanarkshire at the start of the eighties I took an interest in Scottish traditional music and have for the last fifteen years played with the Scottish folk group Cruachan playing clubs and festivals in Scotland and Europe.
In 1990 I won a songwriting competition in Glasgow and have continued to write and perform a mixture of my own songs, American and traditional Scots material performing solo on the Scottish folk scene. I have released two solo albums and one with Cruachan listed below.
