"Owings Mills Singer Makes Cut on Sunday Best"

John McClure of Owings Mills, who sang "I'm Lost Without You'' on BET's Sunday Best , made the top 10 cut on the gospel talent show, which aired Sunday.
Judge BeBe Winans, who originally recorded the song, told McClure that he "had what it takes.''
Judges Erica and Tina Campbell of Mary Mary agreed.
"I thought you did fantastic,'' said Erica Campbell. "That's one of my favorite songs.''
Minutes before, Sharon Gomez of Reisterstown didn't fair as well. Her jazzy rendition of "Great Is Thy Faithfulness'' fell short of the judges' expectations.
Winans said the song did not show her ability. "It not the greatest performance.''
Still Gomez got some encouragement from the Campbell duo. "Clearly, you have a beautiful voice,'' Tina Campbell said.

Bio

John McClure Jr. is a promising multi-gifted talent who is captivating audiences, blazing stages and inspiring hearts with every word spoken and every note sang. He is most significantly a worshipper without compromise. Whether singing, acting or ministering, John takes pride in using the totality of his gifts as a conduit of positive messages and God’s Word. John’s favorite saying is “Live Life. Love God.” and this sentiment is a true expression of how he lives each day.

When it comes to music, John is one of the most timeless voices to ever emerge. John has been singing since the age of 3 with a balladry style that exudes sincerity, compassion, and most importantly, a heart and love for God. These virtues helped catapult him onto a national platform, recently landing a spot as a top five finalist on BET’s Sunday Best Season Two. Having ministered in song with such musical greats as Donald Lawrence, Karen Clark-Sheard and Jonathan Nelson, John’s musical ingenuity and passion for God will inspire audiences for years to come.

John’s elevation in his music career has also helped create a long-desired pathway to unveil his remarkable acting ability. Enamored with the stage and the energy that an audience can ignite, John has been entertaining through acting and comedy since he was a young man. In May of 2010, John unleashed this gift through his debut in Marcia Samuels play Tell Hell I Ain’t Comin’ performed at the York College Performing Arts Center in Queens, NY. Immediately following that charismatic performance, John landed a leading role in the award winning gospel comedy Sanctified (November, 2010), performed at the Lincoln Theatre in Washington, DC. For John, acting is an innate extension of his purpose as a worshipper, messenger, and a servant of God.

John and his wife Erika live in Maryland where he currently serves as minister of music at Kingdom Worship Center under Bishop Ralph and Lady Deborah Dennis. His debut solo CD Simply John: Born to Worship is scheduled to release in 2011.
