John McPherson

John McPherson

BandJazzBroadway

Original Piano-driven Jazz-musical, or Jazz-rock songs. Catchy melodic riffs and piano progressions and punchy band-hits ensure the listeners are entertained throughout each song entirely. The music is recorded using midi and garage band in John's home.

Biography

Using a mac-laptop with garage band, John writes and records songs for the entertainment of others. Usually writing hit songs for musicals such as 'Bullet Betty Vereska: The Directive of Six' and 'Fresher! The Musical', he has also written songs for fun.
Male piano-driven bands are few and far between these days, with most rock bands opting to use guitars. The rock songs John does write are just as good whilst using a different medium to achieve the same means.

Lyrics

The Silver Sparrow

Written By: John McPherson/James Marzec

CHORUS:
Our jobs are going to kill us
The mob is going to fill with us with lead
The days are getting colder
And we're all getting older it's true

So won't you come inside?
We've got nothing to hide
We're just lonely people passing time
We're just passing time

SPOKEN:
5, 6, 7, 8

CHORUS:
Just a bar in the city square
But we're not going anywhere
Get there fast and beat the rush
You're never gonna get enough

Tell your wife you're going out
But never tell your wife about
The Silver Sparrow
It's the place to go!

(Dance break)

We've got hooch we've got pals
We've got pretty dancing gals
We've got guys we've got dolls
We've got shelter from the cold

Forget about tomorrow night
And drunken fights
Just head to the bar and have a drink or three

MEN BY THE BAR:
The next rounds on me!

ALL:
Hey!!!

Enjoy the show
At the Silver Sparrow!

Find a dame
At the Silver Sparrow!

Hide from the law
At the Silver Sparrow!

Come dance and sing
There's gambling
And any other thing a man could need to survive
Until the wife arrives!

Enjoy the show
At the Silver Sparrow!

Find a dame
At the Silver Sparrow

Hide from the law
At the Silver Sparrow

At the Silver Sparrow!

BARTENDER: (Spoken)
Hey mac, what'll it be?

In The End You're Mine

Written By: John McPherson/James Marzec

CHORUS:
Ba-da-da-da Ba-da-da Da-da-da-dah
Ba-da-da-da Ba-da-da Da-da-da-dah
Hey Betty
What’s it like working the beat?
Hey Betty
What’s it like hunting the streets?

BETTY:
I do the job and get paid

CHORUS:
Hey Betty
Don’t you think you planned it all wrong?
Hey Betty
Private eyes don’t live very long

BETTY:
Facing down a gun
Is my idea of fun

CHORUS:
Fun!

BETTY:
Stay away from criminal activity
Or one day you’ll have a visit (group click fingers) from me
‘Cause no matter what felony
From murder to grand larceny
It’s a private detective’s life for me

DAVEY:
And me!

CHORUS:
Hey Betty
What’s a girl like you doing here?
Hey Betty
Is there anything that you fear
Have you always won?
Can you tell us how the job is done?

BETTY:
The work is rare but the pay’s a dream
‘Cause I’m faster with a gun than you’ve ever seen

CHORUS:
You can run if you want
Hide if you want
Fight if you want

BETTY:
But in the end you’re mine

CHORUS:
Ba-da-da-da Ba-da-da Da-da-da-dah
Hey Betty
We know you’re gonna save the town
But Davey
Is probably going to let us all down

DAVEY:
Give a guy a break
All beginners have to make mistakes

BETTY:
There’ll be a day when I retire
But for now (group click) I’m your gun for hire
And though he don’t look too bright
With Davey’s help I’ll be alright

BETTY AND DAVEY:
We’ll make the bad guys see the light

BETTY:
The work is rare

DAVEY:
But the pay’s a dream

BETTY:
‘Cause I’m faster with a gun

BETTY AND DAVEY:
Than you’ve ever seen

CHORUS:
You can run if you want
Hide if you want
Fight if you want

BETTY:
But in the end you’re mine
In the end you’re mine
You’re mine

CHORUS:
Ba-da-da-da Ba-da-da Da-da-da-dah
Ba-da-da-da Ba-da-da Da-da-da-dah
Ba-da-da-da Ba-da-da Da-da-da-dah
Ba-da-da-da Ba-da-da Da-da-da-dah

DAVEY:
Ahhhhhh!
Ahhhhhh!

BETTY:
But in the end you’re mine
