BandCountryAdult Contemporary

60s/70s retro sounding songs that can be done either pop/rock or country.

Biography

Growing up in Vancouver, Canada, I took piano for a few years as a child but eventually quit. Later came down to states to school. Since early 90s I've been writing as a hobby, composing songs in my head driving to/from work and tinkering at home in between chores. Influences primarily classic 60s and 70s rock/folk and country, such as ELO, Jethro Tull, Cat Stevens, Left Banke, Marshall Tucker Band etc. I'm not really a performer, just enjoy composing/writing.

Lyrics

Goodbye Rachel

Written By: John Gage Moody

Every time she walks in the coffee shop
She sees him there, pretty much in his usual spot
Still nursing a cup of the blend
It could be his only friend
Looking busy.

Java man,
Old man with the cup in hand
Are you real, or do you come from the distant past
She asks.
Please tell me I need to know
I'm already late for the show.

But he doesn't hear her,
For words never leave her lips
As before
She just smiles and then dissappears

Haunted by memories
His hollow eyes still see a happier time
He just stares
As the world passes by.

Rachel
I think I forgot to tell you farewell
When you walked in my ice tea al-most fell
When you smiled at me I couldn't feel the hell
And now you've gone away.

Rachel
Your name you really didn't have to spell
With soft A and the emphasis on L
As if I could not already tell
That you were very special.

Rachel
You don't have to know the reason why
Just let me be to stumble on through time
Promise to meet you on the other side
Wish I could stay be-hind.
Wish I could
But now I have to go, have to go.

Rachel
The world is just a cir-cus in your eyes
Where people laugh and lon-ly sad clowns cry
Where time stands still and no one ev-er dies
I know you never will

Rachel
I hope that all your class-es work out well
The answers to your questions time will tell
If you should ever find yourself near hell
Please meet me at the well
And don't forget to wear that same sachel
Wear that same sachel.

[Begin Chorus]
Goodbye, Rachel
I hope you think of me when you cry, Rachel
But then only if you laugh too.

Goodbye, Rachel
I'll always be with you if you try Rachel-chel
Wish I had time to love you.

Goodbye, Rachel
Mother of the twelve tribes of Israel
Baby welcome to the future

Goodbye Rachel
I'll always be there with you.
Remembering the best time of our life, of our life

Rachel
You don't have to know the reason why
This song's just my way to say goodbye
Just let me be to stumble on through time
I'll meet you on the other side

Rachel
The world is just a cir-cus in your eyes
Where people laugh and lon-ly sad clowns cry
Where time stands still and no one ev-er dies
I know you never will
