"Washington Post gig pick 1994"

1/14/94
Thursday
Everybody's been waiting for a new hard-hop or urban rap-rock fusion, and Liquid Hips, a Defunkt offshoot fronted by cult hereo John Mulkerin, may be it: rude, literate, metal bottomed and large-C Constitutionally enraged.
Judge for yourself at a no-risk freebie at 15 Mins.
Eve Zibart - Washington Post

"Melody Maker Excerpt July '82"

following is an excerpt from a review of Defunkt live in London:

"...Defunkt are all highly accomplished musicians, be it Kim Clarke's finger popping bass or the startling trumpet playing of John Mulkerin, and their sound is expansive and impressive. If they play funk for Joe they can just as soon turn their hands to R&B, jazz, even a touch of Flamenco guitar..."
